PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shinya Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rakkiat Nongkeeswuit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rakkiat Nongkeeswuit was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shinya Aoki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rakkiat Nongkeeswuit!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nongkeeswuit throws a low kick but Aoki avoids it.

Nongkeeswuit darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Aoki is looking for a sweep. Nongkeeswuit is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Aoki keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Aoki tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nongkeeswuit sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Aoki somewhat.

Aoki drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Nongkeeswuit manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Aoki has Nongkeeswuit in his guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Aoki closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Aoki wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Nongkeeswuit, who protects the arm well.
Nongkeeswuit is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Aoki has just dragged him back down to the mat.
What's Nongkeeswuit going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.

Aoki goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Nongkeeswuit rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Aoki's guard! Nice work there by Nongkeeswuit!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Nongkeeswuit wanted to stand there but Aoki had control of the position.

Shinya Aoki is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Aoki drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nongkeeswuit looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nongkeeswuit looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nongkeeswuit!

Nongkeeswuit has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Shinya Aoki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Aoki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nongkeeswuit tries to avoid it but Aoki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nongkeeswuit to the ground. Nongkeeswuit escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

It looks like Shinya Aoki has been cut.

Aoki closes the distance and clinches up with Nongkeeswuit, looking for a takedown. Aoki pushes Nongkeeswuit against the cage but Nongkeeswuit circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
