PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Hammond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ernie Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hammond comes to the cage accompanied by Know your Enemy. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ernie Davis was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Hammond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ernie Davis!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping leg kick lands for Davis.
Davis ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Davis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Davis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Davis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hammond is trying to get back to half guard.
You can see the frustration on Hammond's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hammond prevents Davis from moving into mount.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Hammond tries to escape but Davis is in control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hammond is trying to control Davis's posture but Davis avoids it.
Davis working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Davis working away.

Davis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hammond knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Davis postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hammond dodges the ground and pound from Davis.
Hammond stops Davis from passing to mount.
Davis sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Hammond is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Davis in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Davis has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Hammond is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Davis yanks on the arm and Hammond is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Davis.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ernie Davis!
