And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vince Cruise!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruise lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Cruise is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Johnson.
Cruise is looking to clinch.
Cruise tries to clinch up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cruise.

Cruise misses with a straight right.
Cruise tries to score with a low kick but Johnson moves his leg out of the way.
Johnson throws a series of punches but Cruise moves out of range.

and Johnson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cruise's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cruise is on top in guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Johnson counters with a two punch combo.

and Johnson counters with a single leg into guard. Cruise didn't expect that.

Johnson has gone for a leg lock! Cruise slips out almost immediately though and dives into Johnson's guard.

Cruise misses with a takedown

and Johnson counters with a shoot takedown. Cruise fights it but they end up in guard.
Cruise wants to control the position but Johnson says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Johnson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Johnson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cruise manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Johnson has Cruise in his guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Johnson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cruise defends it easily.

Johnson drops his hands momentarily and Cruise takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Johnson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cruise rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Johnson's guard! Nice work there by Cruise!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cruise looking to sit in guard and control but Johnson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cruise has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Cruise's legs - danger averted.
Johnson lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Cruise isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Johnson stacks Cruise on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Johnson!

Cruise throws a series of strikes that have Johnson backpedaling.

Cruise might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Johnson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
