Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Heaslip! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy Balmer! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Balmer drops down looking for an ankle pick but Heaslip pulls his leg out and moves away.
Heaslip fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Heaslip closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Balmer to the mat! Balmer manages to get full guard. Balmer keeping moving, preventing Heaslip from controlling successfully. Heaslip got a little sloppy there for a moment and Balmer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Heaslip has managed to get both his arms back between Balmer's legs - danger averted. Balmer looks gassed! Balmer looking for a guillotine here but Heaslip defends easily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. The fight stays on the outside here - Heaslip looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Heaslip digs a good body shot into Balmer's ribs. Heaslip wants to clinch up but Balmer keeps it at a distance. Heaslip closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Balmer did well to prevent Heaslip getting side control. Heaslip wants to lay and pray for a moment but Balmer keeps working. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Balmer is looking to improve his position.
Heaslip is trying to control the action in half guard but Balmer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Balmer is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Heaslip pulls his head out easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Heaslip is looking to take a break and control but Balmer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Heaslip seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Balmer tries to get to full guard but Heaslip has control of the leg. Heaslip decides to stand and escape the position. Heaslip tries to bum rush Balmer with a series of wild strikes but Balmer uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Heaslip tries to close the distance and clinch but Balmer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Balmer scores with a takedown into Heaslip's guard. Balmer advances position into side control!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Balmer goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Heaslip rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Balmer's guard! Nice work there by Heaslip! Balmer looking for a guillotine here but Heaslip defends easily.
Balmer has his foot on Heaslip's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Heaslip works his way back into a safe position though. Oh but Balmer is tightening it up a little... Heaslip has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Heaslip reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Heaslip taps out! nice BJJ there by Balmer!
