1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brandon Phillips! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Russell Pearce and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phillips throws a shot to the body.
Phillips swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Phillips looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Phillips dives in and grabs Butts's left leg, looking for a takedown. Butts pushes down on Phillips's head and hops out. Butts takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Butts keeps the fight on the outside. Phillips tries a head kick but it misses.
Phillips wants to clinch up but Butts keeps it at a distance. Phillips shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Butts pinned against the cage. Butts gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Phillips misses with an uppercut. Phillips shoots in but Butts avoids the takedown attempt easily. Butts shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Phillips manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Seymour Butts overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Butts is working Phillips over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Butts lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
