The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penduko shoots in looking for a takedown. Benoit tries to sprawl out of it but Penduko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Benoit manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Benoit throws a hook but Penduko avoids it easily.
Pedro Penduko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Penduko or perhaps it was just good defense by Benoit which made him look bad.
Penduko fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pedro Penduko. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Benoit displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Penduko.

Penduko shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Benoit is looking to control Penduko's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Benoit avoid being mounted?

Benoit is trying to stand up here but Penduko is controlling him well.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Penduko.
Benoit throws out a powerful jab.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Benoit, as that shot connected.
Penduko throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Benoit's waist but Benoit gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Penduko off to one side.
Michael Benoit is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Penduko is trying hard to land a takedown here. Benoit sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Penduko is breathing heavily.
Penduko moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Penduko closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Penduko is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Penduko looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Benoit is fending him off so far but Penduko persists. Nope, Benoit circles away and we're back to standing.
Benoit lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Oh Penduko is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Penduko circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Benoit. Penduko falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Benoit!
