Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Art Wanderlei! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joakim Kroon! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wanderlei takes the fight into the clinch. Kroon looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Wanderlei slows down the pace here.
Kroon lands a knee to the body.
Wanderlei escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wanderlei misses with a two punch combination.
Wanderlei changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kroon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Wanderlei stands up and beckons Kroon to his feet. Wanderlei throws a right and a left that both miss. Wanderlei shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Kroon trying to control here.
Kroon taking some punishment here, with Wanderlei in his half guard. Wanderlei is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kroon doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wanderlei. Wanderlei has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kroon is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Wanderlei scores with a couple of nice shots. Wanderlei is working for a kimura but Kroon is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kroon tries to lock up and control but Wanderlei gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Wanderlei is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kroon is surviving well by controlling Wanderlei's body position as best he can. Wanderlei cracks Kroon with a big elbow. Wanderlei has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Kroon! Wanderlei putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Art Wanderlei overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The referee warns Kroon that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Wanderlei jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Kroon is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Kroon and Wanderlei has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Wanderlei landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Kroon looks to move to half guard but instead Wanderlei has passed into mount! Damn! Wanderlei has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kroon's face.

Wanderlei tries to bum rush Kroon with a series of wild strikes but Kroon uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Wanderlei darts in and clinches Kroon up against the cage. Wanderlei jumps guard.

Wanderlei closes the distance and clinches. The referee calls for Wanderlei to work.
Wanderlei has had enough of the clinch but Kroon keeps him there for the moment. Wanderlei drags the fight down to the ground.
Kroon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wanderlei has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kroon has managed to get both his arms back between Wanderlei's legs - danger averted. Wanderlei has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kroon off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Wanderlei is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kroon can do to turn this around? Wanderlei wants to clinch up but Kroon keeps it at a distance. Wanderlei shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kroon manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Wanderlei drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wanderlei jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Kroon wants to stand but Wanderlei is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wanderlei would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Wanderlei thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Wanderlei postures up in Kroon's guard and throws a big left but Kroon blocks it. Wanderlei is working Kroon over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Wanderlei throwing strikes but missing. Wanderlei drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wanderlei jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Wanderlei will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Wanderlei lands with some strikes. Wanderlei pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Wanderlei is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Kroon is forced to tap! Great finish!
