Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mamed Becker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Lee!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Becker fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lee sprawls well initially but Becker persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lee tries to kick Becker off but Becker keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Becker landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Lee manages to get to full guard.
Lee wants to stand but Becker is controlling the position.
Becker landing with the ground and pound.
Lee wants to get back to his feet but Becker is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Becker looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Lee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Becker's guard.

Becker is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Lee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Becker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Becker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lee doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lee manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Becker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Becker closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lee to the mat! Lee manages to get full guard.
Lee tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Becker stops Lee from standing up.
Lee controls Becker momentarily but Becker frees himself.
Lee wants to sweep here but Becker controlling him for the moment.

Becker distracts Lee with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Becker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Becker shoots in for a double leg but Lee sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Becker is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Lee is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Lee fails with the takedown.
Becker on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Lee sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Becker is trying to control. Lee wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Becker wants to free his trapped foot but Lee is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Lee makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lee.
Lee wants to sweep but no luck.
Lee is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Lee wants to get back to his feet but Becker is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Becker throws and elbow that misses. Lee uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Becker's guard. Nice move by Lee!
Lee wants to get up but he can't break Becker's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Lee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Becker swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Becker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lee tries to avoid it but Becker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lee to the ground. Lee escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lee fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Becker paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lee throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Lee moves away from the strike by Becker.
Lee cracks a nice hook into Becker's ribs.

and Becker counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lee!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Lee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Becker swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Lee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Becker's waist but Becker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lee off to one side.
Lee fails with a takedown attempt.
Mamed Becker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Lee.
A head kick misses from Lee.
Becker closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Becker seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Lee wants to get back to his feet.

Becker is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lee has managed to free his arm - good work.

Becker postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lee is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Becker, into his guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Becker, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
