Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lewis Fairhurst (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joseph Jones is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lewis Fairhurst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Joseph Jones!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones throws a head kick but Fairhurst moves out of range.

Jones shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fairhurst's guard.

Jones is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Jones wanted to stand there but Fairhurst had control of the position.

Jones tries to buck Fairhurst off but Fairhurst is having none of it.

Jones explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fairhurst tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fairhurst to the ground. Fairhurst escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Fairhurst looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Fairhurst is retaining full guard.
Jones is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Fairhurst is pulling down on Jones's head to control his posture.

Jones gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Jones tries for a takedown but Fairhurst circles away easily

and Fairhurst counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jones won't be happy with that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Jones counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Jones is working for a kimura here but Fairhurst manages to reverse the position and he's now in Jones's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jones will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Fairhurst tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard.

Fairhurst drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jones manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Fairhurst has Jones in his guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones wants to control from the top but Fairhurst keeps moving.
Jones slips nicely into half guard.
Fairhurst is looking to control Jones's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fairhurst avoid being mounted?
Fairhurst is trying to get back to full guard.

Jones content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Jones is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jones is looking to stall here but Fairhurst recovers full guard.
Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Joseph Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Fairhurst tries to close the distance and clinch but Jones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jones leaves Fairhurst with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Joseph Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fairhurst shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lewis Fairhurst. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones throws a strike aimed at the side of Fairhurst's head but Fairhurst avoids it well.

Jones tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jones has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Fairhurst drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fairhurst jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Joseph Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Fairhurst is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jones is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jones has escaped and now he's on top!
Lewis Fairhurst has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jones controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

I would just about give that final round to Joseph Jones.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
