The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pimputa.

and Rua counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rua shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pimputa pinned against the cage. Pimputa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Rua connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Pimputa's hands.

Pimputa displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rua throws out the jab.

Pimputa lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Rua throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pimputa sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Pimputa throws a jab but it's blocked by Rua.

Pimputa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Rua working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pimputa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pimputa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rua is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pimputa is aware though and is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rua is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Pimputa scores with a couple of nice shots.

Pimputa seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rua does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Rua throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pimputa was covering up waiting for the punch and Rua finishes the takedown easily into guard.
