Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shane Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Edkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shane Carter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tyler Edkins! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Edkins leaves Carter with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Carter shoots for a double leg takedown but Edkins sprawls well. He's pushed Carter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Edkins bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Carter swats away the attempt to clinch by Edkins. Edkins tries to clinch up but Carter circles away and keeps his distance. Carter lands with a cross. Carter shoots for a double leg takedown but Edkins sprawls well. He's pushed Carter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him. Carter moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Carter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Edkins with a poor takedown and Carter counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Edkins! Edkins gets back to half guard. Edkins wants to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter not landing any meaningful shots this time. Edkins flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Edkins blocking the ground and pound attempt from Carter. Carter is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Carter seems to be working for a kimura but Edkins defends the submission attempt. Carter is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Edkins is just riding it out for now. Carter eventually gives up the hold. Edkins is trying to maintain the position but Carter is very close to passing his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Edkins shoots and misses and Carter counters with a nice double leg into side control. Edkins won't be happy with that. Carter working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Carter misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Carter is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Edkins has escaped the position, nice work there. Carter is breathing heavily. Edkins regains half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carter seems to be working for a kimura but Edkins defends the submission attempt. Edkins is trying to stand.
Edkins is trying to maintain the position but Carter is very close to passing his half guard. Edkins tries to get to full guard but Carter has control of the leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edkins is trying to stand up here but Carter is controlling him well.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Carter is defended easily by Edkins. Edkins with a lazy takedown attempt and Carter counters with a single leg into guard. Edkins didn't expect that. Carter throwing strikes from guard but Edkins blocks nicely. Edkins is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Edkins is looking to stand up but Carter isn't so interested in that idea. Edkins utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Edkins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Carter working some strikes from top position. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Edkins tries for a takedown but Carter circles away easily and Carter counters with a nice double leg into guard. Carter throwing strikes but missing. Edkins wants to sweep but no luck. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Edkins looking to control.
Carter is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Edkins is trying to keep Carter in close.

Shane Carter dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
A big right from Carter misses. Carter tries a head kick but it misses.
Tyler Edkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Edkins closes the distance but Carter moves to the side and Carter counters with a nice uppercut. Edkins with a poor takedown and Carter counters with a nice double leg into side control. Edkins won't be happy with that. Edkins taking a bit of punishment here - Carter scoring with strikes. Carter is looking to take a break and control but Edkins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Edkins is trying to stand back up. That's one minute gone in the round. Edkins throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land. Carter wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Edkins, who protects the arm well. Carter is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Edkins has escaped the position, nice work there. An elbow from Carter crashes against the mat.
Carter postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Edkins trying to control but Carter is having none of it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Carter is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Carter lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Edkins at a distance.
Edkins tries to clinch but Carter moves away and Carter counters with a takedown into side control. Carter lands a nice forearm strike. Carter with the ground and pound but Edkins regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Carter lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Carter seems to be working for a kimura but Edkins defends the submission attempt. Carter is trying to control the action in half guard but Edkins is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Carter thows a huge punch but Edkins dodges it nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Edkins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carter is working away from the top position though. Carter content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Carter stalling away here and it's allowed Edkins to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Carter trying to control but Edkins is working from the bottom. Carter slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edkins is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Carter stays in close to Edkins's body and controls the position. Carter wants to control from the top but Edkins keeps moving.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Shane Carter just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Carter uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Edkins.

Edkins stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Edkins wants it to stay on the feet. Edkins throws a half hearted mid kick. Edkins clinches but Carter breaks the clinch and Carter counters with a stiff right hand. Edkins wants to clinch but Carter slips to the side and Carter counters with a single leg into guard. Edkins didn't expect that. Carter stays in close to Edkins's body and controls the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Shane Carter showed his dominance in that final round. Well Carter has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
