The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mimic stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mimic wants it to stay on the feet.
Mimic really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mimic darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Mimic content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
McKinney is not content to let Mimic control the position.
McKinney won't allow Mimic to pass to mount.
McKinney tries to get to full guard but Mimic has control of the leg.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Mimic trying to control from half guard but McKinney is working away.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mimic gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and McKinney counters with a takedown into side control.
Mimic tries to improve position but can't.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McKinney is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mimic is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mimic is not content to let McKinney control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mimic tries to clinch there but McKinney circles away.

and McKinney counters with a takedown into side control.
Mimic tries to improve position but can't.
Mimic regains half guard.
McKinney tries to pass to full mount but Mimic defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mimic is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McKinney pulls his head out easily.

Mimic is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McKinney's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McKinney's back!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McKinney wants to escape the position.
Mimic looking for the choke but no joy.
McKinney trying to control the action but Mimic just sinks the hooks in.
McKinney takes a big shot to the side of the head.

McKinney shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mimic's guard.
McKinney tries to free his leg and advance position but Mimic is retaining full guard.
McKinney wants to control from the top but Mimic keeps moving.
Mimic is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McKinney defends well.
Mimic looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
McKinney has gone for a leg lock! Mimic slips out almost immediately though and dives into McKinney's guard.
Mimic trying to control the position from guard on top but McKinney is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mimic is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because McKinney is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Mimic is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

McKinney is looking for a sweep. Mimic is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mimic connects with a jab.
Mimic fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mimic is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
McKinney with a lazy takedown attempt
and Mimic counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
McKinney makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McKinney.
McKinney controls Mimic momentarily but Mimic frees himself.

McKinney has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mimic can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
McKinney is trying to control the position but Mimic postures up.
Mimic will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
McKinney is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mimic is aware though and is defending well.
McKinney is striking off his back. Mimic thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
McKinney wants to improve his position but Mimic is controlling well.
McKinney looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

McKinney thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Mimic seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

McKinney trying to control the position from guard on top but Mimic is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mimic pushes McKinney up against the cage in a clinch.
Mimic is trying to drag McKinney to the mat but McKinney just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Mimic escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mimic finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
McKinney circles away from the clinch attempt.
Excellent takedown into side control there by McKinney.
McKinney has hold of Mimic's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Mimic tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - McKinney cranks the arm and Mimic screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Mimic, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
