Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Cunns II! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Michal Kita! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kita fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cunns II sprawls well initially but Kita persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Kita stops Cunns II from getting back to his feet.
Cunns II throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Kita winds up and cracks Cunns II with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Cunns II manages to get to full guard.
Kita working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Kitais looking to pass into half guard but Cunns II pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Cunns II is in guard. Cunns II pushing down on Kita's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kita can do anything to dispel that myth. Kita has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cunns II is working away from the top position though. Kita scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Cunns II manages to mount him!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kita wants to control but Cunns II is having none of it. Kita is trying desperately to improve position. Cunns II can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kita is looking to escape. Cunns II looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Kita is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Cunns II tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Cunns II has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cunns II's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Kita tries to hold on but Cunns II pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Cunns II looking to control and managing it successfully.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Mark Cunns II just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Cunns II swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nice takedown defense from Cunns II. No joy for Kita on that attempt. No luck with that takedown attempt from Kita. Cunns II scores with a jab to the body. Kita looks gassed! Cunns II fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Kita to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Kita looks to clinch but Cunns II throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Kita taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
