Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stew Grif (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Stew Grif! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricky Ortiz! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grif shoots in but Ortiz avoids the takedown attempt easily. Grif misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Grif shoots in but Ortiz avoids the takedown attempt easily. Horrible takedown by Grif or perhaps it was just good defense by Ortiz which made him look bad. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Grif is defended easily by Ortiz. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Grif.

Ortiz working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Ortiz stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Grif decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Grif is pressing down on Ortiz's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ortiz is holding on for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Grif sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ortiz defending well though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grif is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ortiz is just riding it out for now. Grif eventually gives up the hold. That's three minutes gone in the round. Grif is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ortiz sees it coming and defends easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Grif throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Grif is pressing down on Ortiz's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ortiz is holding on for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Grif misses with a takedown and Ortiz counters with a nice double leg into side control. Grif won't be happy with that. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Ortiz tries to move into full mount but can't pass Grif's legs. Ortiz goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Grif has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ortiz but great work by Grif.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grif looking to control but instead Ortiz has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Ortiz blocking the ground and pound attempt from Grif. Grif is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Grif missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Grif thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ortiz's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ortiz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Grif keeping full guard, as Ortiz tries to pass. Grif looking for a sweep. Not yet Grif, not yet. Ortiz looking to pass the guard. Ortiz wants to stand but Grif has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Grif wants to get back to his feet but Ortiz is in a dominant position and won't allow it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Grif manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ortiz manages to get himself to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grif slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Ortiz dodges the ground and pound from Grif. Ortiz wants to control but Grif postures up. Ortiz wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Grif tries to advance to mount but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Grif decides to stand back up. Grif really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Grif doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ortiz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Grif's guard. Ortiz advances position into side control! Ortiz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Grif is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Ortiz is trying to get an arm triangle but Grif is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grif is looking for a sweep. Ortiz tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Ortiz avoids the strikes from the bottom by Grif. Ortiz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Grif has escaped the position, nice work there. Ortiz works to advance to full mount. Grif defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Ortiz looking to secure an arm triangle but Grif defends it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ortiz prevents Grif from getting the reversal. Grif defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Ortiz. Grif sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Grif gets full guard. Grif tries to land a sweep but no joy. Grif looking for a triangle here. Ortiz is fighting it but it looks tight! Grif pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Ortiz is tapping out - this one is all over!
