The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Thompson keeping moving, preventing Taylor from controlling successfully.
Thompson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Taylor drops back, looking for a kneebar! Thompson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Thompson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Thompson!
Thompson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thompson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Taylor is looking to reverse the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Thompson decides to stand back up. Thompson steps back and let's Taylor get back to his feet.
Taylor misses with a takedown attempt - Thompson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Thompson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Thompson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Taylor is trying to defend but Thompson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Well, if Thompson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Taylor is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Thompson pulls his head out easily.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

That was a close round but I would say that Jesse Taylor will probably get the nod.

Taylor seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Thompson is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
