PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anotonio The Nightmare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brick Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The Nightmare kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is My Generation. Anotonio The Nightmare could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Brick Turner's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anotonio The Nightmare!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brick Turner!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Turner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but The Nightmare paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Turner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around The Nightmare's waist but The Nightmare gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Turner off to one side.
The Nightmare shoots and misses

and Turner counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Turner is stalling in the full guard.

The Nightmare has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Turner is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for The Nightmare.
Turner wants to control but The Nightmare is keeping him busy.

The referee asks Turner politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Turner prefers to stall for the moment though.

Turner thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Turner thows a huge punch but The Nightmare dodges it nicely.

Turner seems to be working for a kimura but The Nightmare defends the submission attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Turner counters with a low kick, right behind The Nightmare 's knee.
The Nightmare does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anotonio The Nightmare. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Turner is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but The Nightmare is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Turner wants to lay and pray for a moment but The Nightmare keeps working.
Turner wants to take a breather but The Nightmare manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Turner.

Turner decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Turner counters with a single leg into guard. The Nightmare didn't expect that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Turner has control of The Nightmare's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and The Nightmare regains control of the situation pretty easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The Nightmare is in all sorts of trouble here.

Turner swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and The Nightmare is now in Turner's guard. A big mistake from Turner there, giving up the dominant position!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brick Turner dominated that round.
That's time! The Nightmare's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Turner counters with a nice low kick that buckles The Nightmare's knee momentarily.

Turner tries to land a knee to the head but The Nightmare blocks with his arms.
Turner tries to score a body lock takedown but The Nightmare shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Turner decides to pull guard.
The Nightmare working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The Nightmare looking to sit in guard and control but Turner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Turner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The Nightmare swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Anotonio The Nightmare will probably get the nod.
