1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joey Garcia! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garcia leaves Reginaldo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Garcia has closed the distance and engaged Reginaldo in a clinch.
Garcia should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Reginaldo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Garcia walks away with a smile on his face. Reginaldo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Reginaldo is defended easily by Garcia. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bryan Reginaldo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Garcia connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Garcia pushes Reginaldo up against the cage in a clinch. Garcia throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Reginaldo tries to pull guard but Garcia holds him up against the cage and eventually Reginaldo drops back down to his feet.

Garcia shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Garcia showed some decent athleticism there. Well, if Garcia is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Garcia is looking to advance position but Reginaldo won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reginaldo tries to roll over but Garcia keeps him under control. Reginaldo is looking to control Garcia's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Reginaldo avoid being mounted? Reginaldo controlling the position for now. Garcia is just content to waste time from the top position. Reginaldo takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Garcia has gone for a leg lock! Reginaldo slips out almost immediately though and dives into Garcia's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Garcia is trying to keep Reginaldo in close.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Garcia has eaten all the pies! Garcia seems keen to control Reginaldo's posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reginaldo wants to control from the top but Garcia keeps moving. Garcia is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Reginaldo trying to control the position from guard on top but Garcia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reginaldo is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Garcia is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Reginaldo controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Garcia keeping moving, preventing Reginaldo from controlling successfully.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Reginaldo tries to clinch up and Garcia counters with a nice double leg into guard. Reginaldo is breathing heavily. Reginaldo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Garcia won't allow Reginaldo to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Garcia wants to get up but he can't break Reginaldo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Garcia trying to control but Reginaldo is working from the bottom. Garcia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Reginaldo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Reginaldo looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Garcia loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Reginaldo looking for a sweep. Not yet Reginaldo, not yet. Reginaldo keeping moving, preventing Garcia from controlling successfully.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Garcia shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Garcia was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Garcia scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Reginaldo?
Garcia takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It looks like Bryan Reginaldo has been cut. Reginaldo tries to clinch but fails miserably and Garcia counters with a nice double leg into guard. Garcia postures up.
Reginaldo keeping moving, preventing Garcia from controlling successfully. Garcia looking to sit in guard and control but Reginaldo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Reginaldo wants to control from the top but Garcia keeps moving. Garcia is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garcia missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Garcia. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Garcia tries to pass the half guard into mount. Reginaldo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Reginaldo is refusing to be controlled, as Garcia sits in half guard. Garcia is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Garcia decides to return to a standing position. Joey Garcia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Garcia tries a head kick but it misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Reginaldo tries to keep at a distance but Garcia has taken the fight into the clinch. A right hand to the body from Garcia.

Reginaldo wants to control from the top but Garcia keeps moving. Reginaldo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Garcia had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Reginaldo defends it easily. Garcia controls Reginaldo momentarily but Reginaldo frees himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Reginaldo misses with a body kick. Horrible takedown by Garcia or perhaps it was just good defense by Reginaldo which made him look bad. Reginaldo tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Garcia counters with a straight punch to the midsection. A head kick misses from Garcia. Garcia shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Garcia misses with a head shot. Garcia is in the full mount, landing strikes. Garcia controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joey Garcia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Bryan Reginaldo's cut. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Reginaldo with a poor takedown and Garcia counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Reginaldo thinking. Garcia has a takedown stuffed. Garcia shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Reginaldo's guard. Garcia wants to control from the top but Reginaldo keeps moving. Garcia with a flurry of punches that miss. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Garcia wants to control from the top but Reginaldo keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garcia decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Reginaldo tries to keep at a distance but Garcia has taken the fight into the clinch. Garcia breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Garcia shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Reginaldo as he jumps to the side. Reginaldo chopping away at his opponent's legs.

And that's the end of the fight! Joey Garcia comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Garcia has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
