Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pat Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Walk with me in hell. Barnes has chosen Red Right Hand - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pat Hughes! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brad Barnes! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughes fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Hughes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barnes but Barnes pushes him off and we're back to square one. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hughes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pat Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barnes wants to slow Hughes down by chopping away at his legs. Barnes is looking to clinch. Hughes misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hughes fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Hughes shoots in looking for a takedown. Barnes tries to sprawl out of it but Hughes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barnes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Barnes moves into range and clinches up with Hughes. Barnes tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Hughes is breathing heavily. This has been an exciting period of action! Nice elbow from Barnes. Hughes tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Barnes has escaped the position, nice work there. Hughes has knee on belly and moves into mount. Hughes tries to control but Barnes wriggling away. Barnes defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Hughes. Hughes swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Barnes is now in Hughes's guard. A big mistake from Hughes there, giving up the dominant position!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hughes working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Barnes has passed into half guard!

Hughes wants to control but Barnes is keeping busy and won't allow it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barnes stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Hughes to get to his feet. Barnes is looking to clinch but Hughes is avoiding it.
Hughes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Hughes swings around for an armbar but Barnes sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hughes's guard. Barnes stopping the sweep attempt from Hughes. Barnes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Barnes decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Hughes takes a kick to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. No luck for Hughes with that takedown attempt. Hughes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barnes but Barnes pushes him off and we're back to square one. Barnes throws a head kick that misses. Pat Hughes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Barnes scores with a nice right hand.

Barnes crunches a lovely knee into Hughes's ribcage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A knee to the head by Barnes.

Hughes gets the takedown into side control. Hughes tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Barnes bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Hughes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Barnes's waist but Barnes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hughes off to one side. Hughes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Barnes swivels and escapes. Barnes fails in his attempt to clinch. Barnes is looking to clinch. Hughes looks for a takedown but Barnes sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pat Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barnes tries a head kick but it misses.

Hughes looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Hughes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Barnes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Barnes gets full guard. Barnes manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Barnes connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Hughes shoots for a double leg takedown but Barnes sprawls well. He's pushed Hughes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Barnes fails in his attempt to clinch. The fight stays on the outside here - Barnes looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Barnes pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Barnes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Hughes fails with a takedown attempt. Hughes shoots for a takedown but Barnes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Hughes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Barnes is not content to let Hughes control the position. Hughes works his foot free and advances to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hughes mounts Barnes! Really nice guard pass there! Hughes is trying to take his opponent's back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hughes is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Barnes defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Barnes taps out!
