Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zoldat Chonkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolay Nechvidov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chonkin is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zoldat Chonkin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolay Nechvidov! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksandr Martynov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nechvidov works over Chonkin's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Zoldat Chonkin has been cut. Chonkin is breathing heavily. Nechvidov shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Chonkin napping and manages to drive through into side control! Nechvidov is chipping away with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chonkin is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Nechvidov has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Nechvidov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Chonkin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nechvidov passes into half guard. Nechvidov is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Nechvidov stalling. Nechvidov is trying to control the action in half guard but Chonkin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Nechvidov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chonkin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Nechvidov is looking to take a break and control but Chonkin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Chonkin won't allow Nechvidov to pass to mount. Nechvidov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chonkin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Nechvidov might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Chonkin kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Nechvidov connects with a single shot there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Nechvidov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Chonkin wants to sweep here but Nechvidov controlling him for the moment. Nechvidov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Nechvidov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Nechvidov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Chonkin is keeping the position for now.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Chonkin shoots and misses and Nechvidov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chonkin's guard. Chonkin wriggles free and stands up. Nechvidov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Chonkin as he jumps to the side. Nechvidov throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Chonkin was covering up waiting for the punch and Nechvidov finishes the takedown easily into guard. Nechvidov won't allow Chonkin to sweep him here.

Chonkin pulls Nechvidov in close to his closed guard and prevents Nechvidov from doing any damage or advancing position. Chonkin wants to sweep here but Nechvidov controlling him for the moment. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Chonkin seems keen to control Nechvidov's posture. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nechvidov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chonkin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. That's two minutes gone in the round. Chonkin looking for submissions off his back. Chonkin regains full guard. Nicely done. Nechvidov wants to control from the top but Chonkin keeps moving. Chonkin wants to sweep but no luck. Chonkin throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Chonkin keeps the fight on the outside. Chonkin swats away the attempt to clinch by Nechvidov. Chonkin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Nechvidov avoids the head kick by Chonkin.
Nechvidov shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Chonkin napping and manages to drive through into side control! Chonkin is trying to escape the position but Nechvidov is controlling the position. Chonkin regains half guard. Nechvidov stops Chonkin from getting back to his feet.
Nechvidov not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Chonkin kicks Nechvidov off and gets back to his feet. Nechvidov throws a combination. Chonkin tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Chonkin tries for a takedown but Nechvidov circles away easily and Nechvidov counters with a single leg into guard. Chonkin didn't expect that. Nechvidov being controlled here momentarily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chonkin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Nechvidov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Chonkin works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Nechvidov trying to control but Chonkin is working from the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nechvidov can do anything to dispel that myth. Nechvidov moves into full guard.

Chonkin misses with a takedown attempt and Nechvidov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chonkin's guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zoldat Chonkin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nechvidov trying to control the position from guard on top but Chonkin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nechvidov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chonkin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nechvidov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nechvidov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Chonkin can't keep his opponent in guard - Nechvidov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Chonkin is staying active underneath Nechvidov, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Chonkin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Chonkin. Chonkin wants to get back to his feet but Nechvidov is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

And that's the end of the fight! Nikolay Nechvidov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Nechvidov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
