Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Master Miles! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Rikki Way! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Way throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Miles was covering up waiting for the punch and Way finishes the takedown easily into guard. Miles wants to get back to his feet but Way is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Miles looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Way puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Way frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Miles is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Way looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Miles tries to reverse the position but Way maintains control. Way jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Miles manages to avoid the submission attempt. Way is trying to get an arm triangle but Miles is defending well. Miles is trying to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Way is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Miles is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Miles is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Miles gets back to half guard. Miles makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Miles. Miles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Miles is looking for a triangle but Way pushes his legs off easily.
Way thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Miles knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Way on the ground. Way looks gassed! Miles lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Way!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Way defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Miles. Miles is working for a guillotine from mount but Way frees his head quite easily.
Way is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Way regains half guard. Way moves into full guard.
Way throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Miles drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Miles jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Way working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Miles doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Way is tightening it up a little... Miles has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Miles reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Miles taps out! nice BJJ there by Way!
