PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lion Trees (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and fred bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Lion Trees!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, fred bob!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trees misses with a takedown attempt - bob sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Trees throws a front kick aimed at bob's knee but bob avoids it well.
Trees tries for a takedown but bob sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

bob feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
bob trying to control but Trees is working from the bottom.

bob avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Trees trying to keep a closed guard but bob is proving a slippery customer.

bob tries to free his leg and advance position but Trees is retaining full guard.

Trees wants to sweep here but bob controlling him for the moment.

bob should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Trees walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Trees doesn't succeed with the takedown

and bob counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Trees!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lion Trees. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Trees wants to control but bob is having none of it.

Trees is squirming around, avoiding bob's attempts to control the action.
Trees avoids a series of strikes thrown by bob.

Trees tries to hold on but bob pushes him away.

Despite being in the dominant position, fred bob just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Trees doesn't succeed with the takedown

and bob decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Trees's guard.

Trees manages to escape and get back to his feet.

and Trees counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for bob!

Trees thowing shots but they're missing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Trees cracks bob with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Trees takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Trees tries to control but bob wriggling away.

Trees looking to ground and pound but bob is blocking nicely.
Trees lands a heavy elbow.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Trees has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of bob's face.
bob is working to get back to half guard.
fred bob has got the better of the ground game so far.

Trees goes for an armbar but he's not got it… bob turns into him and now he's in Trees's guard.
Trees is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Trees keeping moving, preventing bob from controlling successfully.
bob stopping the sweep attempt from Trees.
Trees is trying to keep bob in close.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

bob gets to his feet. Trees looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Trees tries for a takedown but bob circles away easily

and bob counters by clinching up.
Trees jumps guard but bob stands there with Trees around his waist. Trees gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lion Trees. That's going to take a lot out of him.
bob has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Trees is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Trees drags the fight down to the ground.

bob stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Trees doesn't succeed with the takedown

and bob counters with a takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

fred bob showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



bob decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Trees is looking to improve his position.
Trees gets back to full guard.
Trees has control of bob's left arm, preventing bob from doing any damage.
Trees preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
bob pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Trees is keeping the position for now.

Trees is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

That's one minute gone in the round.

bob ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. bob no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
bob looking to hit a scissor sweep but Trees is one step ahead there.
bob is pulling down on Trees's head to control his posture.
bob wants to sweep here but Trees controlling him for the moment.
bob is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
bob wants to control but Trees is keeping him busy.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

bob is just content to waste time from the top position. Trees takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Trees has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Trees manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Trees is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. bob can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
bob holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Trees tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Lion Trees has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Trees unloads with some shots from mount but bob bucks and avoids them well.

I would just about give that final round to fred bob.
Well bob has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
