Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Nigel Winters! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Evans! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Winters swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Winters misses with a few strikes there.
Winters throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nigel Winters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Winters throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Evans. Evans scores with a jab to the head.
Winters throws a nice looking combination but Evans bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Winters stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Winters wants it to stay on the feet. Winters throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Evans. Evans is working an open guard so Winters takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Evans has managed to clinch.

The fighters circle momentarily. Winters darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Evans throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Evans throws a hook to the side of Winters's head but Winters sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Winters tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Evans counters by clinching up.

Evans jumps guard and drags Winters to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Winters wants to get up but he can't break Evans's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Winters stands up and waves to Evans to follow him. Winters is breathing heavily. Winters closes the distance looking to clinch and Evans moves into the clinch. Winters looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Evans jumps guard.
Winters tries to stand but Evans is controlling from the bottom. Winters throws and elbow that misses. Evans uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Winters's guard. Nice move by Evans!

and Evans decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Winters's guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Winters utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Evans trying to control the position from guard on top but Winters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Evans in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Evans counters by clinching up. Evans has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Winters uses from the top position. Winters throws a strike but Evans rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Evans works over Winters with some ground and pound from guard. Winters on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Winters tries to get out of the position. Evans throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Winters works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Evans with a nice head shot there. Evans drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Evans jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Evans in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. Nice body punch from Evans. Winters looks to clinch letting Evans counter with a right hand. Winters throws a right hand that Evans ducks under and follows up with a left that Evans also avoids with ease. Evans ducks under a wild hook from Winters. Winters falls off balance throwing a combination
and Evans counters with a lovely straight right hand! A telegraphed right hand from Winters misses the target. Winters throws a left and a right that both miss
and Evans counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Evans darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Evans decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

and Evans counters with a nice low kick that buckles Winters's knee momentarily. An inside leg kick lands from Evans. Evans shoots in for a takedown but Winters shows good takedown defense. Evans swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Winters throws a combination that misses and Evans counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Evans lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Winters avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Evans. Evans is nestled in close to Winters, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Evans takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Evans landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Winters manages to escape and get back to his feet! Evans cracks Winters with an open hand slap. and Evans counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Evans stalks Winters and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Winters's face. Winters staggers backwards, shaken. Evans throws a head kick that Winters semi-blocks.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Winters tries to clinch but fails miserably and Evans counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Winters avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Nigel Winters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Evans. Excellent takedown into side control there by Evans. Winters is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Paul Evans showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Winters thows a leg kick but Evans checks it and Evans counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Winters thinking. Evans is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Evans lands with a kick to the temple. Winters shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Winters misses with a double jab

and Evans counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Winters thinking. Evans looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Winters keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Evans missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Evans thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Winters's head. Nice strikes from Evans there. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Evans connects with a nice short shot to Winters's temple. Evans is nestled in close to Winters, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Evans is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Winters! Evans has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Winters's face.

Evans cracks Winters with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Evans working away from the top, dropping strikes. Winters is bucking up trying to escape but Evans cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Paul Evans is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Evans tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Winters is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Nigel Winters has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Evans postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Winters looks a forlorn figure.

And that's the end of the fight! Paul Evans comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Evans has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
