Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Menkhoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randall Swain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Swain has chosen Lunatic Fringe as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David Menkhoff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Randall Swain!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Menkhoff lands with a kick to the temple. Swain shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Swain shoots in and bounces Menkhoff off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Swain pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Menkhoff is keeping the position for now.
Menkhoff preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Swain is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Swain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Menkhoff swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Swain tries to free his leg and advance position but Menkhoff is retaining full guard.
Swain not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Menkhoff looking to hit a scissor sweep but Swain is one step ahead there.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Swain is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Despite being in the dominant position, Randall Swain just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Swain lands a slapping body shot.

Swain closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Swain tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Swain tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Menkhoff seems a little lost for a moment, as Swain dominates the positioning.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Swain advances to full mount.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Menkhoff tries to clinch there but Swain circles away.

Swain decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Swain controlling the action here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Let's hope that Swain has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Menkhoff fails in his attempt to clinch.

Menkhoff rushes Swain and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Menkhoff throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Menkhoff is looking to control Swain's arms but Swain gets an underhook and turns him. Now Menkhoff has his back to the cage.
Swain drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Menkhoff misses with a knee strike.
Menkhoff tries to land a knee to the head but Swain blocks with his arms.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Swain has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Menkhoff is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Swain has Menkhoff pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Menkhoff manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
David Menkhoff has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randall Swain.
Swain goes for a takedown attempt but Menkhoff pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Menkhoff leaves Swain with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Swain shoots for a takedown but Menkhoff saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Menkhoff tries to clinch there but Swain circles away.
Swain will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Menkhoff throws a sloppy head kick and Swain moves out of range easily.

Swain looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Menkhoff is trying to control the position but Swain postures up.
Swain pushing down on Menkhoff's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Swain wants to pass to mount but Menkhoff is defending the position.
Swain is taking a breather. Menkhoff says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Swain works his foot free and advances to mount.

Swain landing punches.
Swain lands a heavy elbow.

Swain is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Menkhoff is surviving well by controlling Swain's body position as best he can.
Swain fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randall Swain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Swain with a flurry of punches that miss.
Menkhoff can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Swain controls the pace.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Swain dives in and grabs Menkhoff's left leg, looking for a takedown. Menkhoff pushes down on Swain's head and hops out.

Menkhoff gets caught flat footed, as Swain shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Swain is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Menkhoff keeping moving, preventing Swain from controlling successfully.
Swain passes Menkhoff's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Swain uses his free foot to push down on Menkhoff's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Menkhoff.
Swain connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Swain looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Randall Swain is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Menkhoff tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Swain tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Swain is in the full mount, landing strikes.
