Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kendall Alves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Link Copper! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Copper momentarily.
Copper wants to clinch up but Alves keeps it at a distance. Alves leaves Copper with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Copper moves in looking to clinch but Alves pushes him off. Alves stuns Copper with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Copper needs to keep his hands up - Alves had a free shot at his head there. Copper shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Alves manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Alves is pulling down on Copper's head to control his posture. Alves throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Copper really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Alves working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Copper doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. That's one minute gone in the round. Copper trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Copper is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Alves has his hands on Copper's head, controlling the position. Alves keeping moving, preventing Copper from controlling successfully. Alves looking for a triangle here. Copper is fighting it but it looks tight! Alves pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Copper is tapping out - this one is all over!
