Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shooter McGavin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Steve Belisle! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Belisle misses with a low kick. Belisle is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in McGavin's half guard. Belisle not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. McGavin is trying to stand.
Belisle looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McGavin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Belisle throwing shots but McGavin is blocking nicely. Belisle passes into side control, despite McGavin's attempt to control the position.
Belisle lands some shots froms side control. McGavin is trying to buck Belisle off. Belisle happy to just control the position for now. Belisle has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Belisle scores with punches from side control. Belisle prevents McGavin from escaping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGavin struggling a bit here. McGavin tries to buck Belisle off but Belisle is having none of it. Belisle thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. McGavin is looking to reverse the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Belisle working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
McGavin bucks up and tries to throw Belisle off but instead Belisle has got his back! McGavin holding both Belisle 's hands and preventing any damage. Belisle scores with strikes from the back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McGavin is taking damage to the body and head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Belisle scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. McGavin is looking for a way out. McGavin controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Belisle trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
McGavin covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
McGavin looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Will Belisle go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Belisle is trying to stick to McGavin's back but McGavin is turning into Belisle. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Belisle's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by McGavin. McGavin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Belisle looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Belisle looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Belisle! Belisle connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused McGavin some visible discomfort.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Belisle cracks McGavin with an elbow. That is naaassty. Belisle lands a few punches from side control. McGavin is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Belisle asserts his dominance and retains side control. McGavin manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! McGavin trying to control from Belisle's half guard. Belisle has other ideas though and has regained full guard. McGavin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Belisle is keeping the position for now. Belisle is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. McGavin looking to sit in guard and control but Belisle gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. McGavin looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Belisle has picked McGavin up and slammed him! McGavin can't keep hold of the triangle and Belisle manages to pass to side control! McGavin is breathing heavily. McGavin is not content to let Belisle control the position. Check out the look on Belisle's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Belisle prevents McGavin from escaping the position. Belisle trying to control the position but McGavin is working away. Belisle is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. McGavin is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Belisle is controlling him well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steve Belisle dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Belisle throws a head kick that misses. Belisle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McGavin tries to avoid it but Belisle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McGavin to the ground. McGavin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. McGavin takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Belisle takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Belisle lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. McGavin throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Belisle.
It looks like Steve Belisle has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. A head kick misses from Belisle. Belisle looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Belisle throws a body kick the misses and McGavin counters with a nice body kick.

Belisle cracks the inside of McGavin's front leg. Belisle throws a leg kick and McGavin counters with a head kick. Steve Belisle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Belisle takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Belisle throws a head kick but McGavin moves out of range.

McGavin pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Belisle steps to the side to avoid the strikes from McGavin. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Belisle motions for McGavin to come forward. Belisle throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Belisle tries a low kick but McGavin avoids it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McGavin looks to land a body kick but Belisle moved away. McGavin checks the leg kick. McGavin throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Belisle counters with a flying knee. Nice. Shooter McGavin is winning the standup battle so far.
