PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Henry Pollock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Pollock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Moore!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moore misses with a series of wild punches.
Moore misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ben Moore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pollock gets a takedown into half guard.
Pollock moves nicely into side control.

Pollock is trying to get an arm triangle but Moore is defending well.

Pollock looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Pollock in side control, throwing shots but Moore defends.
Moore is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Pollock trying to control the action but Moore is working from the bottom.
Pollock throws a strike aimed at the side of Moore's head but Moore avoids it well.
Moore manages to work his way to half guard, despite Pollock's best efforts.
Moore is staying active underneath Pollock, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Moore is defending against the submission attempts here by Pollock.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Moore wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pollock is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Moore sees it coming and defends easily.

Pollock is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Moore is just riding it out for now. Pollock eventually gives up the hold.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A head kick misses from Moore.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moore tries to clinch there but Pollock circles away.
Pollock fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Moore lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Moore.
Moore is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Moore lands a high kick!
Pollock shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Moore pinned against the cage. Moore gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Pollock avoids the head kick by Moore.
Moore is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Pollock fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Henry Pollock. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pollock on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Moore. Moore obviously looking to wear him down.

Moore misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Moore stuffs the takedown.
Moore tries to clinch up but Pollock circles away and keeps his distance.

Pollock shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Pollock has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Pollock seems to be working for a kimura but Moore defends the submission attempt.
Moore keeping hold of Pollock's head, controlling as best he can.
Pollock throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

That's time! Pollock's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Moore moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Moore throws a leg kick but Pollock sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Pollock shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pollock wants to control but Moore is keeping him busy.

Pollock thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Moore misses with a strike from the bottom.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pollock decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Pollock shoots in for a double leg but Moore sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Moore throws a lazy head kick

and Pollock counters with a nice double leg into side control. Moore won't be happy with that.

Pollock swings around for an armbar but Moore sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Pollock's guard.

Pollock had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Moore defends it easily.

Moore thows a big elbow that misses.
Pollock avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Pollock keeping moving, preventing Moore from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pollock shoots in but Moore avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Moore throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Pollock darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Pollock is keen to just control but Moore is a slippery customer.

Pollock is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Pollock moves nicely into side control.

Pollock goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Moore has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pollock but great work by Moore.
Pollock tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Moore wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Moore tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Pollock is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Moore off and has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry Pollock dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Pollock throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Moore lands with a nice combination. Pollock backs away looking to recover.
Pollock fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Pollock moves into the clinch.
Moore is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Pollock is keeping busy.
Pollock will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Moore up against the cage.
Moore is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Pollock is defending well for now.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Moore.
Pollock has Moore pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Moore manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Pollock has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Moore avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Henry Pollock. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Moore lands a left hand.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Moore.

Moore is trying to force a seperation but Pollock has the dominant position.
Moore stops a takedown attempt from Pollock.
Moore misses with a knee to the head.

Moore controlling the action here for a moment.
Pollock tries for a takedown but Moore manages to get underhooks.
Moore gets underhooks to prevent Pollock's takedown attempt.

Moore jumps into guard, dragging Pollock to the mat.

Pollock throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Moore works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Moore utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Henry Pollock overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Pollock drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Moore manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pollock has Moore in his guard.
Moore in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Pollock is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Moore stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pollock swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ben Moore has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Moore pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pollock is keeping the position for now.
Henry Pollock is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Moore walks into a straight right hand from Pollock.
Moore throws a head kick that misses.

Pollock feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Pollock advances to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Pollock looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Pollock is stalling here. Moore is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Pollock seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Moore has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Ben Moore.
I think Pollock has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
