Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Quall!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Oscar Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Quall looks to land a right hand but Sanchez moved out of range.
Quall displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sanchez throws out the jab.
Quall throws a body punch but Sanchez moves out of range.
Quall staying out of range there.
Quall looks for the body kick but Sanchez saw that one coming.
Sanchez fails with a takedown attempt.
Quall keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Quall tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Sanchez shoots in and bounces Quall off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Quall wants to sweep but no luck.
Sanchez throwing strikes but missing.
Quall wants to stand but Sanchez is controlling the position.

Sanchez content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Sanchez tries to stand but Quall is controlling from the bottom.

Quall looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Sanchez has picked Quall up and slammed him! Quall can't keep hold of the triangle and Sanchez manages to pass to side control!
Quall struggling a bit here.
Quall is looking to regain half guard here but Sanchez keeps moving and retains side control.

Sanchez tries for a kimura but Quall is defending well.
Quall is looking to reverse the position.
Sanchez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

James Quall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Quall dodges the punch combination from Sanchez.
Quall throws a looping overhand right but Sanchez ducks down to avoid it.
Quall takes one on the button.
Sanchez bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Quall takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Sanchez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Quall swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Quall misses with a straight left.
Sanchez fails with a takedown attempt.
The fighters circle momentarily. Quall darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Sanchez stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Quall.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Quall.
Quall is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Quall misses with a head kick.
No luck for Sanchez with that takedown attempt.
James Quall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oscar Sanchez.
Sanchez on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Quall ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Quall throws a leg kick but Sanchez moved away.
Quall jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Quall works Sanchez's body with a nice hook.

Quall tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Quall scores with a hook to the body. Sanchez takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Quall moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Quall scores with a nice strike.
Quall scores with a nice head shot.
Quall lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.


Sanchez is rocked!
Sanchez checks a low kick from Quall.
Quall comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Quall with a nice cross.
Quall is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Quall throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Sanchez colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Quall as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Sanchez is left battered and dazed whilst Quall and his camp cheer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Quall!
James Quall retains his middleweight title!
