PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jutta Urpilainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Burt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burt has chosen "I Luv It" - Young Jeezy as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jutta Urpilainen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Burt!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burt thuds his shin into the meat of Urpilainen's side.
Nice jab there from Burt.


It looks like Jutta Urpilainen has been cut.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Urpilainen.
Urpilainen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Burt swivels and escapes.
Burt misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Urpilainen has closed the distance and engaged Burt in a clinch.
Burt has had enough of the clinch but Urpilainen keeps him there for the moment.
Burt misses with a hook from the clinch.

Urpilainen wants the takedown. Burt is fighting it off but Urpilainen persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Burt's guard against the cage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burt has his foot on Urpilainen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Urpilainen works his way back into a safe position though.
Urpilainen is looking to work some ground and pound but Burt has wrist control.

Burt is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Urpilainen is aware though and is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Burt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Urpilainen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Urpilainen trying to control but Burt is working from the bottom.

Urpilainen postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Burt is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Urpilainen, into his guard.

Urpilainen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Burt defends well.

Burt drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Burt jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Burt has gone for a leg lock! Urpilainen slips out almost immediately though and dives into Burt's guard.
Urpilainen thows a big elbow that misses.

Urpilainen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Burt has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Urpilainen has managed to get both his arms back between Burt's legs - danger averted.

Urpilainen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Urpilainen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Burt looks to move to half guard but instead Urpilainen has passed into mount! Damn!
The referee warns Burt that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Urpilainen cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Urpilainen fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Burt is working to avoid the ground and pound but Urpilainen connects with a decent elbow.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Urpilainen connects with a nice short shot to Burt's temple.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Urpilainen slips a jab and a cross from Burt.
Burt rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Urpilainen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Burt throws a head kick that misses.
Some wild striking there from Urpilainen.
Burt is looking to clinch but Urpilainen is avoiding it.
Burt throws a lazy right hand but Urpilainen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Burt swings for the body but Urpilainen moves out of range.

Urpilainen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Urpilainen in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Burt takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Burt is not content to let Urpilainen control the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Burt has momentary wrist control but Urpilainen slips an elbow through the middle.

Urpilainen is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Burt is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Burt has escaped and now he's on top!

Burt is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Burt looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Henry Burt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Urpilainen looking for subs off his back but Burt has passed one foot through into half guard.

Jutta Urpilainen showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Urpilainen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
