Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Dash! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bert Jonesy! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dash closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jonesy to the mat! Jonesy manages to get full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jonesy trying to control the position.
Dash with a flurry of punches that miss. Dash looking to pass the guard. Dash drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jonesy looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jonesy looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jonesy! Dash is trying to improve his position. Dash manages to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jonesy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dash keeps working. Dash wants to get back to full guard. Dash slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Jonesy avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Dash is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Jonesy tries to stand but Dash is controlling from the bottom. Jonesy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dash has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jonesy has managed to get both his arms back between Dash's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dash manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Jonesy wants to hold on but Dash pushes him away. Dash throws some wild stikes that Jonesy manages to avoid easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dash is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jonesy can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Jonesy is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dash thowing shots but they're missing. Jonesy bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Dash escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jonesy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Dash has a closed guard, preventing Jonesy from standing up. Dash tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Bert Jonesy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jonesy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dash. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jim Dash dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Dash looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Jonesy looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Dash closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jonesy circles away. Dash shoots in for a double leg but Jonesy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Dash. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jonesy throws a nice head kick!
Dash keeps the fight on the outside. Jonesy looks to score with a jab to the body but Dash is just out of range. Jonesy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dash swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Jonesy gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Dash. Dash just misses with a punch to the body.
Dash swats away the attempt to clinch by Jonesy. Jonesy pushes Dash up against the cage in a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dash tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Jonesy. Jonesy lands a right hand that snaps the head of Dash backwards. Jonesy prevents the takedown attempt.

Jonesy throws a head punch that misses. Jonesy throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Dash blocks it with crossed arms. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Jonesy creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Dash avoids a wild elbow strike from Jonesy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dash manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Dash throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Dash has his foot on Jonesy's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jonesy works his way back into a safe position though. Dash thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Jonesy trying to stand up but can't free himself from Dash's guard. Jonesy wants to control from the top but Dash keeps moving. Dash looking for a sweep. Not yet Dash, not yet. Dash utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Dash preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jonesy won't allow Dash to sweep him here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jonesy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dash is proving hard to escape from.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Dash throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jonesy's waist but Jonesy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dash off to one side. Dash closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dash lands in his opponent's guard. Dash pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jonesy is keeping the position for now. Jonesy working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Dash. Dash postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jonesy is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dash, into his guard. Dash looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Jonesy passes into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dash is looking to regain half guard here but Jonesy keeps moving and retains side control. Jonesy stands up and we're back to a striking position. Jonesy blocks a leg kick. Jonesy leaves Dash with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Dash scoring well with a low kick there.
Jim Dash is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Dash shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jonesy is trying to defend but Dash finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Dash sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jonesy defending well though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bert Jonesy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Good shot there by Jonesy. Jonesy takes a shot right to the bread basket. Dash shoots for a takedown but Jonesy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jonesy lands with a nice body kick. Jonesy fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jonesy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dash manages to avoid it. Dash changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Dash bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Dash lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Dash shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jonesy defends it nicely. A right-left combo lands from Dash. Dash drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dash is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jonesy has escaped the position, nice work there. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Dash scoring with punches from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dash working the body and head with strikes. Dash throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Jonesy manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Dash is trying to get back to full guard. Jonesy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dash keeps working. Dash moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Jonesy wants to stand but Dash is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dash is looking to sinch up a triangle. Jonesy throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Dash's body to avoid the submission. Dash has instead reached around Jonesy's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Dash arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
