Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Randy Rice! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Jefferson! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rice is looking to clinch. Rice swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rice. Jefferson does a little dance to reset his feet. Rice circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jefferson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rice.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jefferson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. George Jefferson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jefferson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Rice works over Jefferson's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like George Jefferson has been cut. Rice fails in his attempt to clinch. Jefferson moves into range and clinches up with Rice. Rice wants to break free but Jefferson has control.
A frustrated look appears on Rice's face as he tries to break the clinch. Jefferson breaks from the clinch.
Rice lands with a right hand. Rice throws out a loose jab but Jefferson uses good head movement to avoid it. Jefferson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rice wants to clinch up but Jefferson keeps it at a distance. Rice avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Jefferson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Jefferson is looking to clinch but Rice is avoiding it.
Rice throws a hook but Jefferson avoids it easily. Jefferson rushes Rice and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Jefferson tries to pull guard but Rice won't allow it.

Rice in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Rice trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Rice stopping the sweep attempt from Jefferson. Rice has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rice throwing strikes but missing. Rice throws a big right hand that misses. Jefferson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rice. Rice throws a strike but Jefferson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Rice has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Jefferson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Rice misses with a series of wild punches.
Rice misses the shot to the body. Rice tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jefferson was well out of range. Poor timing from Rice. Jefferson takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Rice fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jefferson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Rice throws a right and a left that Jefferson avoids nicely. Jefferson rushes Rice and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Rice tries to stall but Jefferson uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Rice takes an elbow to the forehead. Jefferson landing knees to the head.
Jefferson blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Rice is trying to force a seperation but Jefferson has the dominant position. Jefferson cracks Rice with a nice body shot. Jefferson breaks the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jefferson tries to clinch there but Rice circles away.

Jefferson has closed the distance and engaged Rice in a clinch.
Jefferson with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
It looks like Randy Rice has been cut. Rice is trying to break the clinch but Jefferson is controlling him. Rice's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Jefferson pulls guard. Jefferson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Jefferson keeping moving, preventing Rice from controlling successfully. Rice postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Rice trying to control but Jefferson is working from the bottom. Jefferson wants to get back to his feet but Rice is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rice loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rice postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jefferson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Rice is concentrating on defense, preventing Jefferson from advancing position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jefferson is keen to just control but Rice is a slippery customer. Rice moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Randy Rice will probably get the nod. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Jefferson prevents Rice from breaking the clinch. Jefferson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rice tests Jefferson's chin there with a solid looking shot. A jab from Rice misses. Rice avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jab by Rice. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rice rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jefferson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Jefferson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rice swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jefferson fails in his attempt to clinch. Rice throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Jefferson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rice paws at him with a jab and circles away. Rice lands a jab-cross combination.
That has opened up George Jefferson's cut even more. Jefferson is breathing heavily. Rice jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Jefferson clinches up with Rice and pushes him back against the cage. Jefferson lands a right hand that snaps the head of Rice backwards. Jefferson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Jefferson tries to clinch up. Rice stuns Jefferson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Randy Rice is winning the standup battle so far. Jefferson clinches but Rice breaks the clinch and Rice counters with a three punch combo that has Jefferson backing up. Jefferson nods at Rice to acknowledge the strikes. Jefferson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jefferson wants to clinch up but Rice keeps it at a distance. Rice tries to clinch but Jefferson is having none of it. Rice tries to clinch and Jefferson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jefferson. Jefferson breaks from the clinch.

Rice tries to bum rush Jefferson with a series of wild strikes but Jefferson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Rice wants to clinch up but Jefferson keeps it at a distance. Rice looks to score with a jab to the body but Jefferson is just out of range. Jefferson tries to clinch but Rice is having none of it. Rice darts in trying to clinch and Jefferson moves into the clinch.

George Jefferson's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters. Rice ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jefferson moves away. Rice wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rice throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jefferson on the side of the head.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at George Jefferson's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
