Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Douglass James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and ross peters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). peters has chosen one step closer as his entrance music. peters has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. ross peters has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglass James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, ross peters! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James tries to clinch but peters is having none of it. James moves in looking to clinch but peters pushes him off. peters shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts James as he jumps to the side. peters has closed the distance and engaged James in a clinch.
peters works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. James working for a triangle but peters defends it easily.
James looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
James will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
peters must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. James escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. peters gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. peters prevents James from getting back to his feet. peters stopping the sweep attempt from James.
That's one minute gone in the round. James throws his legs up looking for a submission but peters uses it to pass to side control.
James is breathing heavily. James is looking to reverse the position. peters tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. James manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. James moves into full guard.
peters seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. James is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. James with an attempt at a knee that misses.
peters should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. peters is looking for a takedown up against the cage. James gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. James misses with an elbow over the top. peters takes an elbow to the temple.
It looks like ross peters has been cut. James looks to throw an elbow but misses. James has the Thai plumb, controlling the head nicely. He loads up with a big knee to the head and peters goes down! James pounces into side control - this one could be over soon!
peters is rocked! James working the head with strikes. peters is still in real trouble! Can James finish him?
That's two minutes gone in the round. James is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. peters knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. James tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! James is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, peters has escaped the position, nice work there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James lands a decent elbow from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. James stands up and beckons peters to his feet. peters seems to have recovered his senses. peters will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Douglass James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of ross peters. peters closes this distance looking for a takedown but James circles away. peters darts in and clinches James up against the cage. James throws an elbow but it misses.
James pushes off an throws an elbow but peters leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. James lands a knee to the head.
That has opened up ross peters's cut even more.
That's three minutes gone in the round. peters has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. James avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. With the two fighters working up against the cage, James just misses with a elbow thrown towards peters's brow. peters tries to score a body lock takedown but James shows good agility there to stay on his feet. James throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
peters can't get the takedown.
James throws an elbow that misses.
James tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
peters jumps into guard, dragging James to the mat.
peters manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. James manages to get himself to full guard.
peters is in close to James's body, working some short punches and elbows. peters landing some decent shots from guard. James looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
peters prevents James from getting back to his feet. There's a bit of a scramble here and now James is on top in guard.
James decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on peters, up you get! James is looking to clinch. peters swats away the attempt to clinch by James. James closes the distance but peters moves to the side and peters counters by clinching up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. peters takes a knee right on the jaw!
James lands an elbow that stopped peters in his tracks for a moment. James throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
James misses with a knee to the head. peters drops down looking for an ankle pick but James pulls his leg out and moves away.
James tries to clinch but peters is having none of it. James tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. peters lands with a nice combination. James backs away looking to recover. James tries to clinch up but peters circles away and keeps his distance. James looks to clinch and peters counters with a right hand to the body. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. peters fails with the takedown. peters shoots for a takedown but James saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Douglass James dominated that round. The cut man is working on ross peters's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
James looks to clinch and peters counters with a nice double leg into guard. James is looking to sinch up a triangle. peters throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to James's body to avoid the submission. James has instead reached around peters's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! James arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Douglass James!
