Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Funku Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Regis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Funku Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Regis! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Regis pinned against the cage. Regis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Gracie defending well as Regis loads up on a big left hand. Regis scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
It looks like Funku Gracie has been cut. Regis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gracie misses with a kick to the body.
Regis cracks Gracie with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Gracie misses with a jab, cross combination.
Regis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gracie shoots for a takedown but Regis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Horrible takedown by Gracie or perhaps it was just good defense by Regis which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Funku Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Regis looks to land a combination but Gracie avoids it well. Gracie is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Regis's half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie trying to pass the guard but Regis defending well. Gracie stops Regis from getting back to his feet.
Regis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Regis is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie is pressing down on Regis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Regis is holding on for now. Regis is trying to stand up here but Gracie is controlling him well. Regis avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gracie. Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Regis is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Regis throws a body punch but Gracie moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gracie closes this distance looking for a takedown but Regis circles away. Regis missing with a left hand there. Gracie was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Regis falls off balance throwing a combination
and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into side control. Regis won't be happy with that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A lull in the action here as Gracie stalls from top position. Regis is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Regis defending against the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Regis parries the strikes from Gracie easily there. Gracie is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Regis to escape.
Gracie in side control, throwing shots but Regis defends. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Regis can do anything to dispel that myth. Gracie is landing with some decent strikes but Regis is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gracie trying to control but Regis is having none of it. Regis is bucking up trying to escape but Gracie cracks him with another couple of good strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Funku Gracie dominated that round. The cut man is working on Funku Gracie's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Regis throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Regis stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Regis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Regis wants it to stay on the feet. Regis throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into guard. Gracie working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Gracie throwing strikes from guard but Regis blocks nicely. Gracie stands and throws Regis's legs to the side, diving into side control. Regis takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Regis is trying to escape the position but Gracie is controlling the position. Gracie throws an elbow but Regis slips to the side and avoids it well. Gracie tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Regis is trying to buck Gracie off. A lull in the action here. Regis wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Regis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gracie avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Mike Regis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Gracie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Regis's waist but Regis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gracie off to one side. Regis throws a jab but it's blocked by Gracie. Gracie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Funku Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Regis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gracie manages to avoid it. Regis sizes up Gracie with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Regis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gracie. Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Regis shows good takedown defense.

Nice move by Regis! Gracie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Regis is aware though and is defending well. Regis decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Gracie takes one on the chin but seems OK.

and Gracie counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Regis's guard now. Regis is looking to stand up but Gracie isn't so interested in that idea. Regis can't keep his opponent in guard - Gracie advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Gracie keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Gracie is working for a submission of some sort.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gracie stops Regis from getting back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie moves into full mount! Regis won't be happy about that! Regis is trying to stand. Gracie lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Regis hang on? Regis is squirming around, avoiding Gracie's attempts to control the action. Gracie raining down shots from the mount! Gracie lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Funku Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gracie has hold of Regis's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Regis manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Gracie tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Gracie postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Regis looks a forlorn figure.

Gracie is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Regis can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Funku Gracie is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Gracie controlling from the full mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Funku Gracie showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gracie, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
