Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Cobos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Glenn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lucas Cobos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Glenn!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Glenn tries to clinch but Cobos moves out of range.

Cobos feints and as Glenn raises his hands in defense, Cobos changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cobos really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cobos pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Glenn is keeping the position for now.
Cobos throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Glenn works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Cobos stands up and waves to Glenn to follow him.
Glenn misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cobos.
Cobos fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Glenn moves into the clinch.
Glenn is looking to break free of the clinch but Cobos has double underhooks.
Glenn blocking some punches.

Cobos jumps guard and drags Glenn to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Glenn is looking to work some ground and pound but Cobos has wrist control.
Cobos wants to stand and escape but Glenn is having none of it.

Glenn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cobos is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Glenn is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cobos is defended easily by Glenn.
Cobos looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Cobos shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Glenn is trying to maintain the position but Cobos is very close to passing his half guard.
Glenn tries to kick Cobos off but Cobos keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Cobos wants to take a breather but Glenn is having none of it.
Glenn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Cobos decides to stand up.

Glenn misses with a jab, cross combination.
Glenn is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cobos sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Cobos scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Glenn can do anything to dispel that myth.
Cobos is breathing heavily.
Glenn controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Cobos content to control rather than advance.
Cobos is keen to just control but Glenn is a slippery customer.

Cobos decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Cobos changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Glenn looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Cobos has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Glenn ducks under a wild hook from Cobos.
Cobos shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Glenn sprawls well. Glenn wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cobos gets slowly back to his feet.

Glenn looks for a takedown but Cobos sprawls well.
Glenn slaps away a takedown attempt from Cobos, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Glenn throws a sloppy head kick and Cobos moves out of range easily.
Cobos shoots in but no luck this time.

Cobos displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Glenn.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cobos dives in and grabs Glenn's left leg, looking for a takedown. Glenn pushes down on Cobos's head and hops out.

Cobos avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Glenn misses with a head kick.
Cobos looks for a takedown but Glenn sprawls well.

Glenn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cobos sprawls well. Cobos wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Glenn gets slowly back to his feet.

Glenn wants to stand up but Cobos is controlling him.
Cobos distracts Glenn with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Cobos loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Cobos wants to control from the top but Glenn keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cobos postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Glenn keeping full guard, as Cobos tries to pass.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Glenn digs a good body shot into Cobos's ribs.
Cobos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Glenn as he jumps to the side.
Glenn will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Cobos closes this distance looking for a takedown but Glenn circles away.
Glenn lands with a thumping leg kick.
Glenn shoots in looking for a takedown. Cobos tries to sprawl out of it but Glenn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cobos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Glenn closes the distance and clinches up with Cobos, looking for a takedown. Glenn pushes Cobos against the cage but Cobos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Cobos takes the fight into the clinch.

Cobos drops down looking for an ankle pick but Glenn pulls his leg out and moves away.
Glenn wants to clinch but Cobos slips to the side

and Cobos counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Glenn wants to sweep here but Cobos controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cobos stands up over Glenn, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Glenn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cobos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Glenn tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cobos just stands there and leans against the cage.

Glenn is trying to force a seperation but Cobos has the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Glenn has Cobos pressed against the cage.
Glenn pushes off an throws an elbow but Cobos leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Cobos drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cobos tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Glenn smiles and moves away.

Glenn pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cobos tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Glenn is looking for a sweep.
Cobos is looking to take a break and control but Glenn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Glenn throws a head kick but Cobos moves out of range.
Cobos fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Glenn avoids it really well and circles away.
Glenn misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Glenn fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Cobos looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Glenn looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cobos is fending him off so far but Glenn persists. Nope, Cobos circles away and we're back to standing.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cobos.
Glenn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cobos circles away quickly and effectively.

Cobos closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Glenn to the mat! Glenn manages to get full guard.
Cobos wants to control from the top but Glenn keeps moving.

Cobos stands and steps away. Glenn gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Glenn misses with a takedown

and Cobos counters by clinching up.
Cobos misses with a knee to the head.
Glenn tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cobos smiles and moves away.

and Cobos counters with a nice double leg into side control. Glenn won't be happy with that.

Cobos stands up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Glenn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Cobos closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cobos lands in his opponent's guard.
John Glenn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight!
Lucas Cobos showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cobos, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
