Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Deon Du Plessis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Du Plessis comes to the cage accompanied by Fort Minor - Remember the name. Jack Black told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Deon Du Plessis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Black! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Du Plessis looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Black tries to keep at a distance but Du Plessis has taken the fight into the clinch. A nice right hand lands inside from Du Plessis. Du Plessis effectively controlling the action here. A short right from Black on the inside. Du Plessis is struggling to control the position. Black managing to block the knees to the body from Du Plessis.
A nice left hand lands by Du Plessis.
Du Plessis lands an elbow just above Black 's eye. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Du Plessis. Du Plessis throws an elbow that misses.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Du Plessis. Black tries to throw a body punch but Du Plessis avoids it by throwing Black back against the cage. Black is trying to drag Du Plessis to the mat but Du Plessis just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Du Plessis lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Black lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Du Plessis misses with the head strike.

That's one minute gone in the round. Du Plessis lands a body shot. Black wants a takedown.
Black prevents a body shot from Du Plessis. Du Plessis lands with a short head shot on the inside. Du Plessis tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Du Plessis comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Du Plessis lands a body punch. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Du Plessis creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Du Plessis using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Black has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Du Plessis lands a hook that snaps the head of Black backwards. A short body shot lands from Du Plessis as the two fighters clinch.
Du Plessis misses with a short punch on the inside. Black has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Du Plessis avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Deon Du Plessis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Black. Du Plessis doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
With the fighters up against the cage, Du Plessis throws an elbow but misses. Du Plessis prevents a takedown attempt there.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Black lands a right hand. A body shot lands from Du Plessis.
Black has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Du Plessis regains guard immediately. Black looks gassed! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Du Plessis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Black! Black really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Black is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Du Plessis is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Black can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Black is squirming around, avoiding Du Plessis's attempts to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Du Plessis controlling from the full mount. Black is looking to improve his position but Du Plessis isn't that keen on the idea. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Du Plessis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Du Plessis unloads with some shots from mount but Black bucks and avoids them well.
Black can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Black tries to hold on but Du Plessis pushes him away. Du Plessis unloads with some shots from mount but Black bucks and avoids them well.
Du Plessis is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Black to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Black shrugs it off. Du Plessis has control of Black's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Black regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Du Plessis avoids the attempt from Black to control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Du Plessis looking to control but Black is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Black regains half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Deon Du Plessis dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Du Plessis darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Du Plessis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Black is looking to clinch. Du Plessis keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Black. Black fails with an attempt to clinch.
Du Plessis closes the distance but Black moves to the side and Black counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Du Plessis wants to land a leg kick but Black is out of range. Du Plessis misses with a leg kick and Black holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Du Plessis swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Du Plessis digs a right hand underneath Black's ribcage. Black let out a lung full of air as it connected. Black lands a shoulder strike. Du Plessis misses with some punches.
Black scores with a hook to the body. Du Plessis with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Du Plessis lands an elbow just above Black 's eye. Du Plessis is trying to maintain a safe position but Black gets an underhook and turns Du Plessis into the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Du Plessis with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Du Plessis's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Black blocks an elbow strike from Du Plessis.
Black jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Du Plessis walks away with a smile on his face. Black gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Deon Du Plessis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Du Plessis takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Black has managed to clinch.
Du Plessis tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Du Plessis wants to stall.

Blackis looking to pass into half guard but Du Plessis pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Du Plessis is in guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Black is on top in guard.
Black wants to control from the top but Du Plessis keeps moving. Black controls from within his opponent's guard.

Du Plessis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Black is one step ahead there. Black throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Du Plessis works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Black loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Du Plessis tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Black counters with a shoot takedown. Du Plessis fights it but they end up in guard. Black in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Du Plessis working a defensive guard here.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Black trying to control but Du Plessis is working from the bottom. Du Plessis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Black showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Du Plessis shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Jack Black is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Du Plessis dodges the punch combination from Black.
Du Plessis looks to throw the jab but Black is out of range. Du Plessis throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Du Plessis swings away with a leg kick that misses. Du Plessis throws a hook but Black blocks it. Black avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Nice body punch from Black. Black shoots in but Du Plessis avoids the takedown attempt easily. Du Plessis moves into the clinch. Deon Du Plessis has scored more points in the clinch so far. Du Plessis with an attempt at a knee that misses.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Du Plessis creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Du Plessis is leaning against Black and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Black lands with a left to the head. Du Plessis lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Black is trying to control. Du Plessis wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Black has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Black scoring with strikes to the body and head. Black wants to lay and pray for a moment but Du Plessis keeps working. Black wants to free his trapped foot but Du Plessis is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Black seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Du Plessis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Black trying to mount his opponent but Du Plessis defends it. Well, if Black is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Du Plessis avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Black. Black is keen to just control but Du Plessis is a slippery customer. Du Plessis regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Black.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. A looping hook to the body misses from Black. Du Plessis does a little dance to reset his feet. Du Plessis tries to clinch but Black moves out of range. Du Plessis wants to clinch and Black counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Du Plessis! Du Plessis tries to get back to half guard but can't. Black controlling the pace for now. Du Plessis holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Black tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Black throwing strikes but Du Plessis bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Black looking to pass the guard. Black throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Du Plessis works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Black content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Du Plessis working a defensive guard here.
Black trying to control the position from guard on top but Du Plessis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that's the end of the fight! Jack Black comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Black has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
