Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Heartman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Heartman might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Heartman Theme song. Owens has chosen Disturbed- Inside the Fire as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Heartman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roman Owens! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Heartman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Heartman lands in his opponent's guard. Owens scrambles and gets back to his feet.
A punch combination from Owens misses. The fight moves into the clinch position. Heartman tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Owens is pressed up against the cage. Heartman has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Owens down to the mat. Owens avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Owens goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Heartman tries a head kick but it misses.
Heartman fails with an attempt to clinch.
A punch combination from Owens misses. Heartman scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Owens is trying to stand back up but Heartman is controlling him
Heartman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Owens's head. Heartman stops Owens from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Heartman controlling the action here. Heartman wants to control but Owens is keeping him busy. Heartman is trying to work for a kimura but Owens is defending well.
Owens is looking to escape. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Heartman is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Owens defends it well.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Owens clinches with his opponent.
Owens escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Owens throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Heartman. Owens throws a nice head kick!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Heartman shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Owens is trying to defend but Heartman finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Owens tries to kick Heartman off but Heartman keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Owens is refusing to be controlled, as Heartman sits in half guard. Heartman is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Owens is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Heartman is looking for a kimura but Owens is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Heartman to get the leverage. Heartman prevents Owens from standing back up.
Owens makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Owens throws a sloppy head kick and Heartman moves out of range easily. Owens throws a head kick that Heartman semi-blocks.

Heartman shoots in and drives through. Owens sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Heartman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Heartman shoots in but no luck this time. Owens looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Owens misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Owens tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Owens throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Owens looks to land a combination. Heartman sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Owens clinches. Heartman doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Owens darts in and clinches Heartman up against the cage. Heartman drags the fight down to the ground.
Heartman pulls Owens in close to prevent any damage. Owens wants to control from the top but Heartman keeps moving. Heartman managing to control the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Owens missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Heartman avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Heartman doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Heartman throws a jab but it's blocked by Owens. Heartman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Owens moves away. Owens clinches up against the cage. Heartman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Heartman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Owens.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Heartman dives in and grabs Owens's left leg, looking for a takedown. Owens pushes down on Heartman's head and hops out. Owens scores with a push kick. Owens misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Owens looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Heartman fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Owens leaves Heartman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Heartman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Owens instigates a clinch. Owens breaks from the clinch.
Heartman fails with the takedown. A combination from Owens does no damage. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Heartman is defended easily by Owens. Heartman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Owens does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Heartman has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Owens taking shots to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Owens is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Heartman has taken his back.
Owens has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Owens avoids the strikes from Heartman. Owens holding both Heartman 's hands and preventing any damage. Owens prevents Heartman from getting a body triangle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Heartman lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK. Heartman patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Owens controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Heartman is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Owens is trying to shake Heartman off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Heartman won't be happy about giving up the dominant position. Heartman scores a takedown into full mount! Heartman won't let Owens get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Owens takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Heartman seems to be working for a kimura but Owens defends the submission attempt. Owens wants to get back to his feet. Heartman is keen to just control but Owens is a slippery customer. Owens kicks off Heartman and gets to his feet. Heartman shoots in but no luck this time. Owens lands a slapping body shot.
Owens throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Heartman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Heartman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Owens is looking to land body kicks. Roman Owens is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. No joy there for Owens, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Owens fights it but they end up in guard. Owens wants to stand and escape but Heartman is having none of it. Owens keeping moving, preventing Heartman from controlling successfully. Owens keeping full guard, as Heartman tries to pass.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Heartman trying to control the position from guard on top but Owens is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Owens uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Heartman fails in his attempt to clinch. A slow jab from Owens misses its intended target. Roman Owens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Heartman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Owens's waist but Owens gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Heartman off to one side. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but John Heartman did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Owens stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Heartman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Heartman fails with a takedown attempt. It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over. Owens throws a right and a left that both miss. Left hook, right uppercut from Owens. Heartman takes one on the button. Heartman fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Owens avoids it really well and circles away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Heartman. Owens is trying to buck Heartman off. Heartman is looking to take a break and control but Owens is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Owens tries to escape but Heartman is in control. Heartman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Owens has escaped the position, nice work there. Roman Owens has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Heartman working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Owens wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Owens throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Heartman with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Owens to score with a decent uppercut. Owens looks to throw the jab but Heartman is out of range. Owens defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Heartman. Heartman on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Owens works over Heartman's head and body with a nice combination. John Heartman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Heartman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Heartman tries to keep at a distance but Owens has taken the fight into the clinch. Heartman is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Heartman tries to score a body lock takedown but Owens shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Heartman tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Owens pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Owens takes a swing at Heartman's ribcage but misses. Owens throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Owens tries to clinch but Heartman moves out of range. Owens throws a sloppy head kick and Heartman moves out of range easily. Owens swings for the body but Heartman moves out of range.
And that's the end of the fight! Roman Owens comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I have no idea who won that fight. Let's wait and see whether the judges are as confused as me! Time for a split decision perhaps?!. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
