The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oooh a lovely combination from MMA sends velazquez down but not out. MMA dives into side control looking to finish.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
MMA tries for a kimura but velazquez is defending well.
The ground and pound from MMA seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
velazquez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

MMA seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but velazquez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, velazquez cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

and velazquez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in MMA's guard now.
MMA thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now MMA is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jack MMA will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

velazquez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
MMA working a defensive guard but velazquez manages to pass into side control anyway.
velazquez misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

MMA is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but velazquez pulls his head out easily.

velazquez is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But MMA has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from MMA!

MMA got a little sloppy there for a moment and velazquez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, MMA has managed to get both his arms back between velazquez's legs - danger averted.

MMA lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
velazquez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of MMA's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take MMA's back!
MMA is really stuck here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
velazquez tries to hold on but MMA postures up.

MMA jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… velazquez is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by velazquez and MMA has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
MMA tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no MMA has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

MMA wants to stand but velazquez has his arm trapped.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
MMA throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and velazquez works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

I would just about give that final round to cain velazquez.
I think velazquez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
