Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Earl Alexander! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Quinton Evans! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Evans tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alexander swats him away and circles back towards the center. Some wild striking there from Alexander.
Quinton Evans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Evans is looking to clinch. Evans gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Evans is looking to break free of the clinch but Alexander has double underhooks. Alexander tries for a takedown. No joy.
Alexander pushes Evans back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head. Alexander swings wildly with an uppercut but Evans uses good head movement to avoid it. Alexander escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Alexander lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Evans moves in looking to clinch but Alexander pushes him off. Evans tries to clinch there but Alexander circles away.
Alexander fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Evans sprawls well initially but Alexander persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Evans blocking the ground and pound attempt from Alexander. Alexander moves into full mount! Evans won't be happy about that! Alexander jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Evans manages to avoid the submission attempt. Evans really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alexander. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alexander throws a strike aimed at the side of Evans's head but Evans avoids it well. Alexander thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Alexander working the ground and pound but Evans is defending the strikes. Evans takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Alexander postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The strikes coming from Alexander are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Alexander tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alexander is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Evans is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Alexander postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Alexander is breathing heavily. Alexander fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Evans is trying to buck Alexander off. Alexander working the head with strikes. Alexander is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Evans knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Evans dodges the ground and pound from Alexander.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Evans managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Alexander.
Alexander has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Alexander scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Evans to see if he's OK. Alexander working the head with strikes. Alexander misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Alexander throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Alexander throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Evans works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Alexander not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alexander throwing shots but Evans is blocking nicely. Alexander sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Evans defending well though. Nice strikes from Alexander there. Alexander thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Evans is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Alexander keeps the fight on the outside. Alexander fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Evans manages to avoid it. Alexander avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Evans takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Evans gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Alexander to score an easy takedown into full guard. Alexander drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Alexander seems to have locked his on tight now - Evans screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Alexander, as he picks up the win!
