Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Theodore Malenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mondial Dos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malenko comes to the cage accompanied by The Pixies - Bone Machine. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Theodore Malenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mondial Dos!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malenko throws a push kick but Dos slaps the foot to one side.

Dos shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dos was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Malenko is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Malenko is squirming around, avoiding Dos's attempts to control the action.
Dos is trying to take his opponent's back.
Malenko is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Malenko wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Dos.

Dos get's back to his feet.
Theodore Malenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Malenko swats away the attempt to clinch by Dos.

Dos scores a takedown into full mount!
Malenko is controlling an arm, preventing Dos from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Dos can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Malenko is looking to escape.

Malenko tries to get to full guard but Dos has control of the leg.
Dos is trying to control. Malenko wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Dos looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Dos is looking for submissions but instead, Malenko has regained full guard.
Malenko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Dos stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Malenko.

Malenko throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Malenko circles away from the clinch attempt.
Theodore Malenko is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Malenko misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Dos looks for a takedown but Malenko sprawls well.
Malenko buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Malenko throws a solid leg kick but Dos takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Malenko.
Malenko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Malenko finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Dos wants to clinch up but Malenko keeps it at a distance.

It looks like Mondial Dos has been cut.

Malenko breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Malenko.
Malenko scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Malenko explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Dos shoots in for a double leg but Malenko sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Dos keeps the fight on the outside.
Malenko connects with a jab.
Malenko scores with a punch to the head.
Dos wants to clinch up but Malenko keeps it at a distance.
Dos ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Malenko throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Malenko breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Malenko darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Dos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Malenko is fending him off so far but Dos persists. Nope, Malenko circles away and we're back to standing.
Theodore Malenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mondial Dos.

That was a close round but I would say that Theodore Malenko will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Malenko lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Malenko lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Malenko throws a leg kick but Dos sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Dos takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Mondial Dos is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Malenko misses with a straight left.
Malenko throws a head kick but Dos moves out of range.

Malenko is struggling to control the position.

Dos's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Malenko gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Dos wants to stand but Malenko is controlling his posture from full guard.

Malenko bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dos's guard.

Dos has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Malenko is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Dos.

Malenko decides to stand back up.
Dos tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Malenko paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Malenko misses with a low kick.
Malenko tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Dos is able to avoid easily.
Malenko connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Malenko pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Dos has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Malenko.

An inside leg kick lands from Malenko.
Malenko thuds his right hand into Dos's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Dos shoots in for a takedown but Malenko shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Theodore Malenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mondial Dos.
Dos takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Malenko is looking to slow Dos down with leg kicks.
Dos on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Good leg kick by Malenko there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Malenko jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Malenko gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dos to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Malenko is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Dos is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Dos ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Malenko scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
A jab from Malenko misses.
A bone on bone clash there as Dos blocks the leg kick.
Dos walks into a stiff left hand from Malenko.
Malenko takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Malenko fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Dos.

Dos takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Mondial Dos has got the better of the ground game so far.

Dos is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Malenko has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Malenko lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Dos down.
Malenko looks up at the clock and then as Dos takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Malenko smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Malenko decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dos to his feet.

Dos tries to score a power double leg takedown but Malenko sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dos somewhat.

Malenko throws a head kick but Dos moves out of range.
Malenko connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Dos takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Malenko throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Dos on the side of the head.
Dos will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dos has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Malenko.

Dos throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

And that's the end of the fight!
Theodore Malenko showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Malenko, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
