Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Sinatra! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Yokozuma The Giant! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The Giant on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Sinatra stuffs the takedown attempt from The Giant. The Giant gets slowly back to his feet. Sinatra has The Giant up against the cage in a clinch.
Sinatra is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but The Giant is keeping busy. Sinatra pulls guard effortlessly. The Giant with a flurry of punches that miss. The Giant has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. The Giant wants to control from the top but Sinatra keeps moving. The Giant advances to half guard. The Giant trying to control the action but Sinatra is working from the bottom. The Giant wants to stand up but Sinatra manages to regain full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. The Giant with a flurry of punches that miss. The Giant stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sinatra swivels though and keeps the full guard. The Giant preventing the sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sinatra is breathing heavily. Sinatra keeping moving, preventing The Giant from controlling successfully. The Giant slips nicely into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. The Giant prevents Sinatra from improving his position. The Giant is keen to just control but Sinatra is a slippery customer.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. The Giant shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sinatra manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The Giant trying to control but Sinatra is working from the bottom. The Giant stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sinatra swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sinatra has a closed guard, preventing The Giant from standing up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The Giant wants to control from the top but Sinatra keeps moving. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sinatra is on top in guard.
The Giant looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sinatra is one step ahead there. Sinatra wants to pass the guard but The Giant is keeping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Sinatra trying to stand up but can't free himself from The Giant's guard. Sinatra has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. The Giant is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Sinatra manages to pull guard.
The Giant postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sinatra is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of The Giant, into his guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sinatra looking to sit in guard and control but The Giant gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's five minutes gone in the round. The Giant stands up from Sinatra's guard - The Giant perhaps looking for a knockout. The Giant is looking to take this fight into the clinch. The Giant tries to clinch up but Sinatra circles away and keeps his distance. The Giant misses with a takedown attempt - Sinatra sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's six minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. The Giant fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Sinatra is out of range. Sinatra tries to close the distance and clinch up but The Giant swats him away and circles back towards the center. The Giant drives through with a takedown into guard. Sinatra not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sinatra has a closed guard, preventing The Giant from standing up. Sinatra keeping moving, preventing The Giant from controlling successfully.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. The Giant pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sinatra is keeping the position for now. The Giant sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sinatra's guard. Sinatra trying to control from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Sinatra moves out of range as The Giant throws a body kick.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Sinatra swats away the attempt to clinch by The Giant. Sinatra stuffs the takedown. Frank Sinatra has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yokozuma The Giant. Sinatra leaves The Giant with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Sinatra tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but The Giant swivels and escapes. Sinatra fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt The Giant. The Giant throws a head kick but Sinatra moves out of range.
Sinatra gets caught flat footed, as The Giant shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The Giant stands up from guard. Let's bang! The Giant has a takedown stuffed. Sinatra shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches The Giant napping and manages to drive through into side control!
That's nine minutes gone in the round. The Giant is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. It looks like Sinatra is going to stand back up.
The Giant slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. The Giant looking to control.
The Giant is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
And that's the end of the fight! Yokozuma The Giant comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think The Giant has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
