The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mishima throws a series of punches but Franklin avoids them all with ease.

Franklin rushes Mishima and presses him up against the cage.

Franklin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mishima's guard.
Mishima knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Franklin on the ground.
Franklin controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Let's hope that Franklin has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Franklin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mishima, up you get!

Franklin has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mishima off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Franklin lands a nice hook to Mishima's body. Mishima takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Franklin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Franklin showed some decent athleticism there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Despite being in the dominant position, Tony Franklin just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mishima takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
