Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Davis throws out the jab.

Maia shoots for a takedown but Davis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Maia changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Davis tries to avoid it but Maia manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Davis to the ground. Davis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Maia gets caught flat footed, as Davis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Davis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maia gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Maia is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Davis is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Davis has escaped and now he's on top!

A left lands for Davis.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Davis lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Maia has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Maia and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Davis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Maia sprawls well initially but Davis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Davis uses his free foot to push down on Maia's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Maia.
Poor strikes thrown by Davis there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Ernie Davis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Maia manages to reverse the position and now he's in Davis's guard. Nice work there by Maia.

Well Davis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
