Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, David O Conner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John O Leary! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! O Leary displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from O Conner. O Conner dives in and grabs O Leary's left leg, looking for a takedown. O Leary pushes down on O Conner's head and hops out. O Conner gets cracked with a nice right hand there by O Leary.
It looks like David O Conner has been cut. O Conner scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. O Conner prevents O Leary from escaping the position. O Leary really doesn't want to stay on the ground with O Conner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. O Leary wants to control but O Conner postures up. O Leary tries to improve position but can't. O Conner throwing strikes but missing, from side control. O Leary is looking for a sweep. O Conner working the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. O Leary tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. O Conner throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. O Leary flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
O Conner trying to control but O Leary is having none of it. O Leary bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's one minute gone in the round. O Conner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst O Leary is controlling him. O Conner looking for a sweep. Not yet O Conner, not yet. O Conner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. O Leary won't allow O Conner to get back to his feet. O Leary is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. O Conner trying to control the position.
O Conner on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if O Conner tries to get out of the position. O Leary trying to control but O Conner is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. O Conner looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
O Conner is breathing heavily. O Leary throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. O Leary dodges the punch combination from O Conner.
O Leary throws a right and a left that O Conner avoids nicely. O Leary drops O Conner with a straight left! Oh this is bad for O Conner! O Leary dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
