Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matti Nypaenen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcin Piotrowski! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nypaenen throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
It looks like Marcin Piotrowski has been cut. Nypaenen throws a body kick that misses. Nypaenen tries to clinch there but Piotrowski circles away.

Nypaenen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Piotrowski shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nypaenen's guard. Piotrowski passes into half guard. Piotrowski is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Nypaenen has managed to free his arm - good work. Piotrowski slows the pace down in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nypaenen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Piotrowski. Piotrowski is controlling the pace.
I looks like Piotrowski might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Nypaenen wants to sweep but Piotrowski has passed to side control! Nypaenen is looking to reverse the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Piotrowski moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Nypaenen can't do much from the bottom here. Piotrowski is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Nypaenen tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Piotrowski easily slips into full mount! Piotrowski is landing with some decent strikes but Nypaenen is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Piotrowski tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Piotrowski fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Nypaenen is rocked!
It looks like Matti Nypaenen has been cut. Piotrowski lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Oh Nypaenen is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Piotrowski postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Nypaenen looks a forlorn figure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcin Piotrowski dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Piotrowski changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nypaenen tries to avoid it but Piotrowski manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nypaenen to the ground. Nypaenen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Piotrowski shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nypaenen as he avoids it easily. Piotrowski fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Matti Nypaenen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcin Piotrowski. Piotrowski shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Piotrowski closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nypaenen circles away. Piotrowski fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Piotrowski changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nypaenen tries to avoid it but Piotrowski manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nypaenen to the ground. Nypaenen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Matti Nypaenen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Piotrowski tries to clinch but Nypaenen moves out of range. Matti Nypaenen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Piotrowski fails to land the takedown. Nice takedown defense from Nypaenen. No joy for Piotrowski on that attempt. Piotrowski throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nypaenen's waist but Nypaenen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Piotrowski off to one side. Piotrowski tries to clinch up but Nypaenen circles away and keeps his distance. The fighters circling - Piotrowski throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Nypaenen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Piotrowski shoots in looking for a takedown. Nypaenen tries to sprawl out of it but Piotrowski keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nypaenen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Piotrowski tries to clinch there but Nypaenen circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Piotrowski looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Piotrowski shoots in but no luck this time. Piotrowski is breathing heavily. Piotrowski shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Piotrowski fails in his attempt to clinch. Piotrowski fails to land the takedown. Nypaenen keeps the fight on the outside. Piotrowski is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Piotrowski looks for a takedown but Nypaenen sprawls well. Piotrowski will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Piotrowski misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Piotrowski changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nypaenen tries to avoid it but Piotrowski manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nypaenen to the ground. Nypaenen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Nypaenen seems to have got his legs back now. A head kick misses from Nypaenen.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nypaenen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Piotrowski takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Nypaenen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nypaenen misses with a few strikes there.
Piotrowski shoots for a double leg takedown but Nypaenen sprawls well. He's pushed Piotrowski's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nypaenen doesn't succeed with the takedown and Piotrowski counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Piotrowski has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Nypaenen defend it? Piotrowski steps over the head and cranks it - Nypaenen is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Piotrowski!
