Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Masters comes to the cage accompanied by alabama 3 - woke up this morning. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ethan Masters! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Cote! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A bone on bone clash there as Masters blocks the leg kick.
Masters has taken the fight to the clinch.
Masters wants a takedown but no success here.
Masters pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Cote keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Cote closes the distance looking to clinch and Masters moves into the clinch. Cote is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Masters gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Masters is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Masters can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ethan Masters. That's going to take a lot out of him. Masters has Cote pressed against the cage, preventing Cote from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Cote drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Masters gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cote jumps guard but Masters stands there with Cote around his waist. Cote gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Masters presses Cote against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Masters manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Masters is pulling down on Cote's head. It's preventing any offense from Cote, at least for the moment. Masters being controlled here, momentarily. Masters controlling Cote's posture. Cote wants to control from the top but Masters keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Masters throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Masters looking for a guillotine here but Cote defends easily.
Cote trying to control but Masters is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Masters lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cote! Masters tries to control but Cote wriggling away. Masters throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Cote regains half guard. Masters trying to mount his opponent but Cote defends it. Masters is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Cote slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Cote controls Masters momentarily but Masters frees himself. Cote is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Cote wants to control but Masters is keeping him busy. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cote lands a nice short elbow. Masters is in trouble now - Cote has advanced to mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ethan Masters will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Cote doesn't succeed with the takedown and Masters counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Masters. Masters slowing the pace effectively. Masters misses with a knee to the head. Masters fails to pull guard.
Masters gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Cote regains guard.
Masters throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cote works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Cote avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Cote wants to sweep here but Masters controlling him for the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cote striking from his own guard. Masters won't allow Cote to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cote bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Masters's guard. Masters wants to stand and escape but Cote is having none of it. Cote wants to control from the top but Masters keeps moving. Cote is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Masters striking off his back but it's not causing Cote any problems. Cote has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Masters is proving hard to escape from. Cote passes into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Cote seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Masters does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Masters is looking for a sweep. Cote is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Cote is figuring out what he wants to do next. Masters trying to control from the bottom.

Masters is trying to stand back up but Cote is controlling him
Masters on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Masters tries to get out of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ground and pound from Cote. Masters misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Masters wants to improve his position but Cote is controlling well.
Cote is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Masters sees it coming and defends easily. Cote slows the pace down in half guard. Cote wants to take a breather but Masters is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Nice strikes from Cote there. Cote wants to stand but Masters has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Cote is trying to control. Masters wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cote moves nicely into side control. Masters looks to move to half guard but instead Cote has passed into mount! Damn! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brian Cote showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Masters tries a head kick but it misses.
Masters shoots and misses and Cote counters with a nice kick to the body. Ethan Masters is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cote fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Cote wants to clinch and Masters holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Cote tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Masters smiles and moves away.
Cote shoots for a takedown but Masters saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Ethan Masters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Cote. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Cote throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cote fails with the takedown. Cote shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Masters's guard. Cote trying to control the position from guard on top but Masters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Masters wants to improve his position but instead Cote has moved into half guard.

Cote slips a nice elbow through Masters's hands, connecting with Masters's forehead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cote prevents Masters from improving his position. Masters has a hand on Cote's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Cote takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Cote can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Masters is looking to escape. Cote lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Masters hang on?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cote swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
