The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
de Souza misses with a body kick.
Macidonia shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts de Souza as he jumps to the side.
Macidonia shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. de Souza defends it nicely.
de Souza looks to land a body kick but Macidonia moved away.
Macidonia fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eden Macidonia. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Macidonia is looking to clinch but de Souza is avoiding it.
de Souza forces Macidonia back against the cage and clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Macidonia jumps guard but de Souza stands there with Macidonia around his waist. Macidonia gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
de Souza manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

de Souza closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Macidonia tries to improve his position but instead de Souza has taken his back!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - de Souza's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
