And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kenny Powers!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powers fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Navas checks it well.
Powers swinging wildly here.
Navas fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Powers shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Navas is trying to defend but Powers finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Powers controlling the action here.
Navas won't allow Powers to pass to mount.
Powers moves nicely into side control.
Powers controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Powers tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Powers has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Powers just content to control the position.

Powers wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Navas, who protects the arm well.
Powers trying to control the position but Navas is working away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
An elbow from Powers crashes against the mat.
Navas can't do much from the bottom here.
Powers has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Navas!
Powers takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Powers looking to control but Navas is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Powers moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Navas has worked his arm free - good work by Navas!

Navas seems a little lost for a moment, as Powers dominates the positioning.
Powers trying to control the position but Navas is working away.

Despite being in the dominant position, Kenny Powers just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Powers bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Powers looks gassed!
Powers advances nicely into full mount.
Powers trying to control but Navas is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Navas is desperately trying to improve his position but Powers has a good base and remains in mount.

Powers is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Navas can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Powers prevents Navas from getting the reversal.
Navas blocking the ground and pound.
Navas is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenny Powers dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Powers closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Navas tries to buck Powers off but Powers is having none of it.

Powers stands up.

Powers throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Navas was covering up waiting for the punch and Powers finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Navas thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Powers content to stall in guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Navas preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Powers passes Navas's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Powers is pressing down on Navas's thigh, looking to free his foot. Navas is holding on for now.
Powers is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Navas!
Navas tries to improve his position but instead Powers has taken his back!
Good control from Powers.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Powers has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Navas! Can he survive? No! He's out! Powers gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kenny Powers!
