PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Stouter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marry Fairy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Samuel Stouter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Marry Fairy!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Atkins and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Fairy does no damage.
Stouter closes the distance and clinches up with Fairy, looking for a takedown. Stouter pushes Fairy against the cage but Fairy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Stouter is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Stouter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fairy's waist but Fairy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stouter off to one side.
Fairy stuffs the takedown attempt from Stouter. Stouter gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Samuel Stouter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Stouter counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Fairy.
Fairy has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Fairy tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Fairy gets underhooks to prevent Stouter's takedown attempt.
Fairy prevents Stouter from breaking the clinch.
Stouter using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Fairy has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Stouter tries to break free but Fairy pushes him back against the cage.
Stouter is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Fairy pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Stouter wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Stouter has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Fairy is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Stouter.
Fairy wants a takedown.

Stouter breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stouter shoots for a double leg takedown but Fairy sprawls well. He's pushed Stouter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Stouter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Stouter avoids the head kick by Fairy.
Stouter is looking to clinch but Fairy is avoiding it.
Stouter tries to clinch up but Fairy circles away and keeps his distance.
Stouter throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Fairy counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Stouter is breathing heavily.
Fairy pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stouter is keeping the position for now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fairy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Stouter keeping full guard, as Fairy tries to pass.
Fairy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Fairy not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Fairy wanted to stand there but Stouter had control of the position.

Fairy postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Stouter is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fairy, into his guard.
Fairy wants to control the position but Stouter says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Fairy is trying to stand up here but Stouter is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fairy avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Stouter.
Stouter is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Fairy is trying to maintain the position but Stouter is very close to passing his half guard.
Stouter missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Stouter decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Fairy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Stouter swivels and escapes.

Stouter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Stouter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Fairy is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Stouter takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Fairy really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stouter throwing strikes here but Fairy is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Samuel Stouter will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Fairy misses with a leg kick

and Stouter counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Fairy pushes Stouter off and scrambles back to his feet.
Stouter stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stouter wants it to stay on the feet.
Stouter moves in looking to clinch but Fairy pushes him off.
Fairy shoots in but Stouter avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Stouter feints and as Fairy raises his hands in defense, Stouter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Fairy is working an open guard so Stouter takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Stouter shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fairy as he jumps to the side.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fairy throws a body punch but Stouter moves out of range.

Fairy rushes Stouter and presses him up against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A bit of stalling here from Fairy.
Stouter lands with a right to the head.
Fairy working hard to break the clinch.

Fairy lands a takedown into guard.
Stouter has Fairy pulled in close to control his posture.
Stouter keeping moving, preventing Fairy from controlling successfully.
Fairy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fairy wants to control from the top but Stouter keeps moving.
Stouter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Stouter kicks Fairy off and gets to his feet.
Stouter fails to land the takedown.
Fairy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stouter as he avoids it easily.
Samuel Stouter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marry Fairy.
Fairy tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Stouter counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Stouter.

Fairy wants to stand and escape but Stouter is having none of it.
Stouter controls from within his opponent's guard.
Stouter trying to control the position from guard on top but Fairy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Fairy has his foot on Stouter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stouter works his way back into a safe position though.
Stouter wanted to stand there but Fairy had control of the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fairy wants to stand and escape but Stouter is having none of it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Fairy shoots and misses
and Stouter counters with a three punch combo that has Fairy backing up. Fairy nods at Stouter to acknowledge the strikes.
Fairy throws a body kick that misses.
Fairy swinging wildly here.
Fairy fails to land the takedown.
Stouter avoids a kick to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Stouter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fairy as he avoids it easily.
Stouter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samuel Stouter dominated that second round.
That's time! Stouter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Fairy dives in and grabs Stouter's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stouter pushes down on Fairy's head and hops out.

and Stouter counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Fairy thinking.
Fairy fails with an attempt to clinch.
Stouter lands a high kick!
The fight stays on the outside here - Fairy looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Stouter closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Stouter advances to mount.
Stouter raining down shots from the mount!

Stouter looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fairy tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Stouter avoids the attempt from Fairy to control.

Stouter is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Fairy has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Fairy is squirming around, avoiding Stouter's attempts to control the action.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Fairy flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Stouter can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fairy is looking to escape.
Fairy is wriggling around trying to escape.
Stouter is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Fairy can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Fairy really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Fairy wants to control but Stouter is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fairy regains half guard.
Stouter is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Fairy is desperately trying to improve his position but Stouter has a good base and remains in mount.
Fairy tries to hold on but Stouter pushes him away.
Fairy tries to buck Stouter off but he can't manage it.
Stouter landing shots from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fairy working to try and regain half guard.
Stouter controlling his opponent.
Fairy is squirming around, avoiding Stouter's attempts to control the action.
Stouter sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

And that's the end of the fight!
Samuel Stouter showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Stouter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
