Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diarra shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rice's guard.
Diarra won't allow Rice to get back to his feet.
Rice throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Rice looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Diarra is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Rice keeping moving, preventing Diarra from controlling successfully.
Diarra advances position into side control!
Rice is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Diarra off and has taken his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diarra wants to escape the position.

Rice lands a shot to the body.

Diarra is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.

and Diarra counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Rice is staying active underneath Diarra, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Diarra wants to stand up but Rice is controlling the position.
Diarra is thwarting Rice's attempts to control the position.
Diarra seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Diarra works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Rice tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Diarra wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

A lull in the action here as Diarra stalls from top position.
Diarra decides to stand back up.
Diarra tries to clinch up but Rice circles away and keeps his distance.
Diarra shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Diarra was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Diarra's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Lassana Diarra dominated that round.
That's time! Rice's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Rice misses with a takedown
and Diarra counters with a single leg into guard. Rice didn't expect that.
Rice looking to hit a scissor sweep but Diarra is one step ahead there.
Rice has momentary wrist control but Diarra slips an elbow through the middle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diarra is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Rice looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Diarra slips nicely into half guard.

Rice looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Rice wants to improve his position but Diarra is controlling well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
