PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Keith Jardine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas Maicon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maicon scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

It looks like Keith Jardine has been cut.
Maicon is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Jardine fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Maicon sprawls well initially but Jardine persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Maicon is trying to stand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jardine decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Jardine has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jardine wants to control but Maicon is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Maicon winds up and cracks Jardine with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Jardine really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Maicon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jardine doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Maicon.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Maicon prevents Jardine from improving his position.
Maicon moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Jardine.
Maicon tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jardine bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Jardine looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Maicon is fending him off so far but Jardine persists. Nope, Maicon circles away and we're back to standing.

Maicon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jardine manages to get himself to full guard.

Maicon decides to return to a standing position.

Maicon thuds his right hand into Jardine's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

and Maicon counters with a single leg into guard. Jardine didn't expect that.
Maicon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Maicon works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jardine has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Maicon is working away from the top position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Maicon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jardine looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Maicon wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jardine, who protects the arm well.

Maicon fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
