Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Lassana Diarra! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rashad Evans! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Evans fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Evans fails with a takedown attempt. Diarra shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Evans counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Diarra is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Diarra trying to get back to full guard but Evans takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Diarra flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Evans prevents Diarra from getting the reversal. Evans tries to control but Diarra wriggling away. Diarra is looking to get to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Evans sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Evans is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Diarra can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Evans trying to control but he's not successful this time. Evans pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Diarra swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Diarra tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diarra throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Evans is working for a guillotine from mount but Diarra frees his head quite easily.
Diarra is trying desperately to improve position. Diarra gets back to half guard. Evans in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Diarra tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Evans!
